We turned down bids in January because we wanted him to get us promoted. We didn’t get promoted, and now his value has naturally decreased due to the simple fact that his contract is running down. It’s not rocket science.
We played a number of players who have had very little experience of league 1 football or as starters for Wycombe. It was unlikely they were going to have fully gelled or be completely up to speed. I thought they all grew into the game and didn’t capitulate which was very possible after the first twenty minutes. I think we all realistic know that the team is going to take time to develop. A number of players are really young and stepping up to a whole new level. I’m going to enjoy watching their progression which is going to have loads of ups and downs.
So very pleased with 3 points ,we play aggressively and don’t bother with possession and number of passes we tend to go at goal as soon as we steal the ball, we do much better against teams that want to make 1000 passes in their own half
That said you looked very slick at times but the other 89 minutes we looked totally in control, passing across the back left and right slowly trying to work the same pattern down our left made it easy for us but I can see you turning plenty of teams over and I’m not looking forward to your gaff as I think you will be in your stride by then
when we played you in the tin pot cup game you could see a clear gap in quality but we have either bridged it or you’ve falllen a long way
Good luck with the season guys
To be fair you deserved to win that game by a country mile - the tinpot game. Biggest smash and grab that i can remember in a while.
You absolutely battered us in that cup game!
Very astute @Citygent78 and I love the first two lines of your second paragraph!
We have fallen a long way, but you guys looked like you’ll be OK this season.
Congrats to your defence. Other than switching off at a free kick they were totally in control.
Oh and is your right winger for sale?
You done well yes but controlling the game for 89 minutes …..don’t get carried away . First game of the season at home you couldn’t have played us at a better time . I don’t think our manager had actually tried this team out as you would expect any other manager to do hence the slow start. We did pass around well but also wouldn’t say it was all around our end , have we dropped in quality since the cup game no have your improved yes. The fact that Kone wasn’t on the pitch also did you favours .
Completely natural body position. Said no one, ever!
Any idea why you didn’t wear your home shirt there wasn’t a clash and that chequered top was awful couldn’t see the number or player names on the back either
tongue in cheek buddy and that was never handball in a million years…..
Normally something to do with a shirt or sleeve sponsor on a different shirt and having to wear them a minimum number of games per season.
It’s our third kit and they were wearing it in the hope that people will buy it. Why anyone would be more likely to buy it after seeing it in the flesh is beyond me.

Basically we need to sign two more players who are “steel ‘
Fink has wings of steel? Does that count as one?
I didn’t think a lack of steel was the problem…it was organisation and decision making.
The thing that always concerns me about MDs post match interviews is that he is never worried about the lack of chance creation. It’s been our fundamental problem ever since he arrived. We had the ball enough, we won the ball back enough, but we didn’t create much.
