Match Day Thread : Bradford

How do you know that Mullins, Boyd-Munce or Henderson are not improvements on Morley or Humphreys when you’ve only seen Mullins play 90 mins out of the three?

I’ve seen all of them play more than 90 minutes. To reiterate my point and time will tell, none of the signings to date are an upgrade on Low, Taylor, Humphries and Morley.

Well, if one competitive game is enough for you to decide that our team is worse than last year, maybe we should all pack it in until May already. Save yourself the stress.

Didn’t watch the game, have only seen the highlights and followed on here. Can’t wait to see some action in the flesh and form my own opinions, because there’s certainly been a lot of contrasting ones on individual performances today. Won’t be popular with some but thought it was a lovely assist (another) from Leahy!

In fairness three of those were loans. I think the club have been pretty clear we want to prioritise developing out own players. I imagine that is viewed as a better long term strategy as we can capture the value of player development in sales, rather than just on the pitch.

The team that started today is without question worse than the team that played the majority of last season. The Danes and Lowry couldn’t get a sniff in the strongest 11 last season. If the Danes play the majority of games this season were in trouble

you talk tosh dont you ? get a grip, its match 1 and plenty of positives

The Danes almost certainly won’t play the majority of games this season. Just think about it…

We have two midfielders unfit (CBM and Henderson) who will likely slot in for Magnus, and Harvie isn’t fit enough for 90 mins yet. Once he is, he’ll be back at LB and Allen likely in at CB for Anders.

That’s even ignoring the assumption we will likely sign another CB still.

That’s a pretty loose comparison . I merely said they both likely said the same thing . In any case the football on display in the second half was far more entertaining than the dross served up at Luton last night. There’s a better one for you :kissing_face_with_closed_eyes:

If Wycombe are serious about competing at the top end of league 1 (which I believe is the aim) it isn’t going to happen with Grimmer, Leahy, the Danes and Lowry playing regularly.
Agree with your point about Boyd Munce and Henderson coming back in when fit and it starts to look different but still need to add that physicality to the team. Time will tell

Lowry was great today , did you actually watch the match? agree with you on Grimmer and Leahy though

When you realise that everything about us is ‘development’ then it all makes sense.

As a group we need to get on board with calling the team a group.

I’m beginning to hate the phrase “the group”

Lowry certainly wasn’t ‘great’. None of them were. Mullins the stand out, especially given the circumstances. Lowry flatters to deceive.

Well

Luton managed it last night.::

Yes, but I’d rather have three points like Luton do.

I also mentioned that Wrexham away game to my fellow traveller as we walked away from Valley Parade. The large crowd, the positive home vibes and (disappointingly) the getting bullied early on all struck chords for me. But I recall that things got better from there. The die was not cast for the season.

Interesting to hear Dodds quote Dan Harvey as having said in the dressing room something to the effect of “the first 20 minutes of all your games in League One will be like that”. In other words, “get used to it - quick, and don’t let it happen again”.

I think you’ll find that actually there are things Mike liked and other things that he didn’t in that performance.

I live for the day the interviewer says: ‘Christ, Mike.. what the **** was going on down there today?’

Terrible I know, but one comment on the BBC made me laugh…if Wycombe did get a pen they would just pass it back to the keeper.

I’m completely with you @Bigred87 and I admire those who clearly have significantly more faith than me that things will turn around.

I actually think Dodds is the worst manager we have had since being in the football league, backed by the most plastic board / ownership group we have ever had. God help us if he had ever been put in charge when we’ve been in relegation scraps without a pot to pee in.

I’m of the belief that if Dodds turns things around and has us punching at the top of the league (which he won’t) then he’ll piss off anyway when a bigger club comes in and then it’s just rinse and repeat. Same for Rice.

But we won’t be anywhere near the top.

Luton have a manager who knows the league inside out and plenty of cash, Stockport I’m sure will show just how far ahead of us they are next week. I watched the Cardiff game in the early KO and I was mightily impressed with them and should never have fallen behind but still went on to win. Huddersfield already look the business and we are going to be a million miles from these teams alone - let alone other forces in the league.

I feel like the heartbeat and the culture that made us what we are is completely gone and it doesn’t excite me one bit to have to sit through things like a couple of years of development of a keeper “who is going to be seriously, seriously good” as Dodds said post match when if he becomes that good anyway will move onto pastures new. When we had fuck all money that’s different (like seeing - and needing - Matt Ingram’s journey), but we’ve just changed everything about us and pissed away cash on players for the sake of one ownership groups footballing philosophy.

Of all today’s posts the one from the Bradford fan really hit home about not wanting to have much possession but attacking quickly and a Wycombe fan saying we have become one of the teams we used to take the piss out of.

Loved this club all my life but good lord our backwards progress on the pitch since Dodds took over is just getting me down, and the constant talk and language of the ownership group, the project, the group, someone’s previous time at Sunderland, good solid professionals being given different squad numbers (Butcher and Taff, that’s out of order in the professional football world by the way). Then the post match interview where having signed 10 technical players we’ve just realised we need some hard bastards on the pitch just beggars belief. No shit Sherlock!

I’m so sorry I’ve been so negative today people😂. I gave myself a good break from 3.0 over the summer as I had been very negative before and was getting me down, and was actually really excited and willing to start the Dodds era with a clean slate today, but we are light years from a promotion charge and I’m certain we will be looking over our shoulder a lot before ending with the inevitable Dodds sacking.

Sadly I think deep down I’m becoming someone who enjoys the one man and his dog football at Holmer, Penn, Flackwell and Beaconsfield nowadays than the play thing we are becoming.

I’m not sure this ride is for me. I miss what we were and I don’t like what we’ve become. We’ve all heard of fans like this over the years and I think I’m becoming one, which I never thought could be possible.

Free Point Owe / Username123 whatever you know me as, I need to bow out of the online side of the football for the foreseeable I think as it’s not doing me any good. I’ll message those in charge to close my account down and I wish you all well for the future.

You are all wonderful, enjoy the season and I wish you all well.
