Match Day Thread: Cardiff (A) 17th Mar 2026

Realistically now, teams from Peterborough down are pretty much out of the playoff running but that still means could still finish as low as 11th….crazy league

Not especially a great performance, but certainly a great result. We do have some real quality in the squad, and that pass from Morley and finish from Vidigal was absolutely brilliant.

Not sure anyone had a stand out game, which may sound strange from a result like that, but that was probably as dominant as I’ve seen Norris look in goal and after Saturday credit to the defence in how we defended the set pieces.

Tough, tough game against a rejuvenated Orient, but if we can get something and then beat Vale we’ll be right in the mix. As I said in an earlier post, I’ll be happy to see us competitive for the end of the season, maybe one or two more moments like tonight and then push on next season

Great win. Not the time for saying who you’d start over someone else. Just enjoy the fucking win for a few hours.

The sniping at Taylor and the subs on this forum around the 60-70 minute was pitiful. Taylor gave his all today and played the game that Duff and all of us have wanted to see for sometime. How about we give credit where it’s due and applaud the performance. You have to take your chances and ride your luck away at a team like Cardiff and that we did. Well done Duff - spot on tonight.

Pie-eyed, moon-faced optimists think we’re going to win every game, regardless of circumstance.

That was Connor Taylor’s best performance in a Mansfield Town Wycombe Wanderers shirt wasn’t it?

Taylor did not put a foot wrong tonight. Superb.

Junior adds some sexiness to the game when he comes on.

I have lost my voice!

Superb result which helped me through a couple of late hours at work in Marlow Bottom. Good job I was there rather than at home as I’d have woken the kids up.

We should be targeting 16+ points from the final 8 regular league matches to hit 72+ points.
4 home wins and 4 away draws. I don’t think that’s unrealistic.

As I’ve given him a fair bit of criticism it’s only fair to say I thought Taylor did alright tonight.

As per some posts above, I don’t think we really played especially well and didn’t look like getting a win 11 vs. 11. But it’s a good result and we could easily have finished with a 0-0 against the 10 men so credit to the management for making the attacking subs to turn the result in our favour.

Also, looked like a great away following and it sounded like they had a good time. Great effort from those who travelled.

Couldn’t agree more.

This is the sort of thing I invisaged after that Bolton capitulation when I banged on about needing to go out and win games away from home, rather than try and hold on.

Vidigal has always looked like a handful whenever he has come on for us and is now looking like he is up to the pace of the game I’d love to see more than 20 odd mins of him.

He looks like a proper menace. Hoping we can keep hold of him, understand he’s only on a ‘short term’ contract.

Great stuff son. Keep your head up, everything is possible.

Love some of this. Fred and Aaron look like they’re enjoying every moment.

On vidigal’s goal did anyone see harvies reaction to him taking his shirt off?

Yep, he was like ‘put your f*cking shirt back on’ and stood behind him as if the officials wouldn’t notice!! Fair play! It was half celebratory and half bollocking!!

I thought it was one of those ‘don’t be a dick moments, you’re a wycombe player not the only player’ badge on the front more important than name of the back type of situation?

Not the best week to go on holiday and not watch the game then

Thanks @devine1980 . All is forgiven .

I thought we were fortunate to not have gone at least a goal down prior to the sending off, we showed a lot of patience and ultimately Duff made the right tactical decision to add pace on the wings.

It was especially pleasing to see Connor Taylor put in a very composed performance. As on Saturday, he did the basics well but in the second half he grew into the game more and more, helping set off our attacks.

You could be forgiven for thinking that the Cardiff players had been reading this forum and thought he could just be left on the ball as they didn’t think he’d do any harm. So any Leyton Orient players reading this, Taylor is a knock kneed has-been with the pace of a Morris Minor on bricks and with a first touch that would embarrass most wrecking ball operators.

Hope the rest of the week gets better for you @Midlander
