Adel taarabt seems like an example of that. Warrnock knew he had the ability to get QPR promoted even when everyone else was saying Adel was more likely to get him the sack.
Told him he was going to play him every week, even if he was shit, and told the rest of the players he would fine them if they passed him the ball in their own half.
I’m not saying Vidigal is Tarrabt after one public acknowledgment that he was late for a meeting, but he has the ability, in my opinion, to terrorise League one defenders. If he wants to…
I said this when we signed him, he is too good for this league. But, it depends on where he is mentally. After things went sour at Stoke. But, he has shown some fire when hes come on, and tried to get stuck in.
Interesting though that, even though he was dumped in the u21s at Stoke, its those same coaches who were with the u21s who wanted him in.
I dobt think he will toe the line always, but thats on the manager to work out how to manage him. Anyone who manages knows that you manage people differently.
Id like to see him on the left cutting in, with Harvie overlapping. I think that will be the support for Lowe.
I think for those of us who are longer in the tooth, the paradigm will always be Steve Abbley. He was one of our best players at the time, but St Martin felt he was a disruptive influence in the changing room and St Martin was right.
If Vidigal can fit into the team ethic, great. But if he can’t, it’s not worth it.
Having “good people in the building” first and for most has been an ethos I have agreed with for a while, so as good as I think Vidigal can be for us, it cant - for me - be at the expense of having players that can be disruptive and not fall under the banner of “a good egg” as Duff described one of the guys that came in from Stoke.
But if those that worked with him in the under 21s felt he was good enough body to bring in here, when he could have easily thrown his toys out and been really disruptive, then that is a good sign.
He might have just snoozed his alarm after an afternoon nap on an away trip and missed a meeting because of it, rather than anything nefarious
