Match Day Thread : Charlton (Play-offs first leg)

Completely agree. I was getting fed up with the generic stadium music we’ve been playing recently. Hey Jude just gets the opposition fans singing which we don’t want.

I always enjoyed Waterfront by Simple Minds too. We had a spell coming out to that too.

Still think we should adopt “Story of the Blues”

I’d take that, but is it ‘limbs’ enough?

Story of the Blues is a bit too obviously scouse (though I love a bit of WAH!, me).

I can see the 1887 mob’s flags being waved to it personally

Yes, it was certainly great to hear some rock music again - and quite deep cuts too. You won’t hear ‘Woman’ by Wolfmother, or ‘Cult of Personality’ by Living Colour, at many football league grounds…

The chorus is pretty rousing. We should make this happen.

I mean yeah but maybe some Four Tops or Hopeton Lewis now and again?

Didn’t this get suggested during the Booker Stadium years by a once regular poster on here?

One more thought on Sunday: it didn’t look too bad visually but been told our pitch has been terrible to play on - very quick and bouncy. Which may just explain the recent uninspiring home displays in attack. I think it was last proper replaced in 2017 with Ainsworth very vocal of his criticism of pitch. Obviously this matter has been addressed.

This pitch?

‘If you think that you can’t go on, and that all of your hope has gone…’ - maybe not the line to run out to.

There was one particular moment in Sunday’s game where Fred was tussling to get the ball down and I swear the second bounce was as high as the first one.

It must be like playing on a trampoline.

and I guess that’s why they call us the blues

I assume the undersoil heating is staying?

Hope so, but let’s make it more environmentally friendly - why don’t we power it from all the hot air generated on the Gasroom?

I last went on the pitch summer 2023 and recall thinking it was really hard.

Just found this little beauty on Twitter which given all the ‘tin pot’ shit Wycombe has been getting online especially about giving a % of our away allocation back, it’s deliciously ironic.
