Impressed my Mansfield. Feels like an area where it would be very easy to support Forest and say stuff the local teams.
Oh Wigan… That’s what happens when the stadium is built to cater to egg-chasing.
Ours is still pretty bad. Hopefully the £25 season tickets has the desired impact next season, that plus some better marketing and engagement around the town should help. We’ve been here before though, I think our core is about 2k season ticket holders and 2/3k floating fans.
Indeed it was, it was certainly apt for the final days of the doomed Hayes regime. Maybe enough old codgers could get together to give it a rendition on Thursday.
On the subject of fanciful songs, how about adapting the start of Dirty Old Town to “I fell in love on the Gasworks End, I dreamed a dream in the old Cowshed. I kissed a girl by the old Blues Shop - sloping Loakes Park, sloping Loakes Park…”
Shirt sponsor Cherry Red Records bought el records many years ago. el Records was a whimsical affair with a lot of made-up bands including Bad Dreams Fancy Dress. One of their songs was ‘Choirboys Gas’ and was, I think, inspired by the club nickname and fanzine.
Good luck turning that into a terrace chant
This is what you call a deep cut
Already used for “Dirty old Slough” isn’t it?
I’m too much of a spring chicken to remember that one! By the time I started going regularly the dambusters was the only song we did about them.
Before my time as well but a man with a cellophane bag taught me the words many years ago.
I love the ‘Dambusters’ chant. Visceral. Sadly it seems to be dying out, replaced by some nonsense about the environs of Milton Keynes.
@williwycombe You’ll be glad to know that there was a rendition on Sunday during a lull in play, old buggers like me heartily joined in though the kids were having none of it…
@peterparrotface Anyone who could get the away end singing it tomorrow evening would surely be king/queen of the Gasroom
Can’t get to the game so will be hoping to watch on Wanderers TV. What Vipienne site would you recommend. Up to now I have use browser based VPn but they seem to have cottoned on and no longer works with Wanderers TV video
I was told the undersoil heating needs a re-vamp too after damage suffered during the rugby years. I’m assuming that’s the pipework you see in the pictures of the pitch getting removed.
I was having some VPN issues on Sunday but Windscribe free VPN was still working on my iPad
Mullvd works well for me and you buy a month’s subscription for £4.50 or so.
You may have had issues at the weekend because VPNing to a country that had bought the rights to show the game was blocked.
Other (legal) alternatives for those unable to get to game
- buy Sky subscription
- buy Now TV day pass (£15)
- watch at Dog and Duck (cost c £5 min but they will throw in a pint of ale)
Are the club showing the game in the bar at AP?
