Match Day Thread : Charlton (Play-offs first leg)

Keep going long to Lloyd Jones - that’ll work well

Our play exemplified by that attack. Players rushing forward, yet it’s stopped by sloppy short passes

Id have taken kone off, but not sure anyone else on the bench changes this game.

Well that was something that happened

Pretty meh. But meh is a massive improvement on recent games so I’ll take that.

Seemed, after the 4-0 battering, we went into that to try and work things out, keep it tight and see what they’d do.

I thought we’d get beat, so to go to The Valley with a chance is something. We’ve got it in us to nick an away win

That could have been much worse. We at least have a crack at the second leg. After the last few weeks that’s as much as I could have hoped for.

Being two legs, I suppose this is Dodd’s 0-0 at HT.

6 goals in past 10 games.

On fire!

Maybe I’m just reading way into how much they love data, but I feel like someone has told the team that crosses have a better xg than just squaring it to the edge of the box. About 10 times during that we played it back out to put a cross in when we could have just created an opportunity near the edge of the box. Painful to watch.

Much better from the team tonight, we matched them physically too.

Kone is still struggling with confidence, so nothing is quite working for him which leaves us a little toothless up front.

0-0 probably better than a 1-0 win tbh, given what the tactics would be to try and defend a narrow lead.

Very pleased to still be in it. All the pressure on Charlton now and we go to the Valley in better shape than most other away teams in the play offs.

Fantastic stuff, almost the perfect leg. We could do this yknow!

Huge improvement on last time but still lacking some real creativity. Be good to see Sadlier given a decent run out on Thursday.

We were missing the tactical nous of Blooms for that formation, but I think every player gave their all and it was far more entertaining than anything else we’ve seen under Dodds. I thought we were pretty decent, but like @NearFarTJDeBarr I found the constant crosses frustrating because Charlton were going to happily deal with those all day long.

Norris still terrifies me with the ball at his feet, but those were two proper saves at the end.
