I don’t agree. I’m extremely concerned.
No need for name calling, let’s keep it civil, eh?
I know you’re probably right, and it may well have been slaughter in the Championship… but it would have been in the Championship.
I’m quite impressed that you think not getting promoted with this team, this term will give us the chance to assemble another team under Dodds to storm League One and sustain ourselves in the league above. They spent two million quid on players that Dodds did not think were good enough for the first team.
I would argue, given the recruitment under Blooms, that money might have been better spent.
But it is all conjecture.
Summer will be interesting.
Unless I am missing something (which is entirely plausible), I’m not sure why you’ve replied to my post.
It is clear you are not aware of @Dubblue’s identity. Whilst I have no intention of revealing it, you would probably have a greater understanding of why they might have a personal relationship with players and managers (both past and present), if you were in possession of that knowledge.
Apologies @Norsquarters for the second half of my post it was someone else who seemed to think going up would have been a disaster but we should assume there is a masterplan for next season…
For someone in their 40’s, I should know better, but the word ‘bell end’ still makes me giggle.
Speaking of bell ends, now they’re safe, can’t wait to turn Reading over next season, which is one positive of staying in L1. Suddenly we became ‘tin pot’ to some of their fans on twitter on the Charlton build up.
Can you not reply to someone without insulting them. I thought you were a grown man but you act like a teenager in the playground. It’s the way of the world. People have different opinions. Some of your opinions are way out and quite frankly without substance but I don’t insult you. Grow up or take more water with your drink!!
I’m happy that I’m not stupid enough to believe that the players only exist when they’re on the pitch or at Harlington.
Isn’t calling someone a teenager in a playground an insult?
Careful, you’ll tie him in a knot.
Sorry, not sure how to post without replying to someone, this new fangled interweb thingy
Not the first time for @CornDog . That is below the belt.
Partially hope, partially cope. Partially liking the movie Moneyball. Idk.
One question.
How can it be both true that they were jealous of the praise heaped on Blooms so much so that their egos couldn’t handle it and sabotaging him before the season started and before the praise started coming in for him?
Personally, I think they were actively changing the structure of the club around Matt Bloomfield which had the result of isolating him (by not allowing his picks in staff), undermining him (by stripping his responsibilities away from him) and trying to either force him to accept the Head Coach or making it difficult for him to succeed in bringing success to the team (I.e. sabotage)
I mean, we’d had a decent end to 23/24 but i didnt see much praise being heaped on Blooms until at least October/November which is after people had been sacked.
You’re forgetting that he was already getting a lot of praise at the end of last season, hence the 2024 calendar year results being second only to Liverpool in the entire football league.
edit: just read the rest of the post and saw you said basically that. Sorry.
No apologies needed. As is my (terrible) habit I edited after the original post as I forgot I wanted to add it
Ha, I think it was already there when I answered too hastily.
My current dilemma is that I want Dodds to pull it off. That’s not because I want Rice to prove himself right, or because I agree with the manner of MD being here, but because he seems a genuinely nice guy.
He speaks very well in interviews, and there have been stories of him being generous and kind which he doesn’t want publicised. Remarkably, reports from the training ground are that the players really buy into him and he’s managed to foster a good, close culture already. It’s just a shame that hasn’t translated on to the pitch.
