I think thatās why heās āfuriousā, he wants them to be much worse than that like in all the other games.
We need to strap the post match interview camera to an oscillating fan too.
I couldnāt quite work it out as the phrasing was odd but I think Dodds in his interview says heās been given a āwarning shotā. I took that to mean heās been told things need to improve or heāll be sacked.
That post-match interview is a tough watch. I feel sorry for Dodds. I donāt know why. Itās just painful to watch him, and Iām not sure pity is an emotion one should have about managers/coaches in the cut-throat world of football.
Heās obviously dealt out a bollocking to the squad. The next two games are a big test of whether he can get a reaction out of the players.
Iām struggling to see how people say that actually.
Clearly itās now a squad shorn of Kone.
But I canāt see how this midfield, with any variation comes close to last yearās Scowen-Humphries-Morley peak, or how any of the centre back options class as upgrades on any of last yearās main 3?
However, it is early days and maybe the assessment will change.
Is that the only time weāve had more than 1 win in a row under Doddsy? Or am I forgetting any others?
Thatās how I understood it, and I think thatās why Dodds has āsuddenlyā chosen a quite normal Dodds performance to be angry over, though I am not a big fan of the recent trend of managers/head coaches using ābraveryā in interviews. It usually comes off as a backhanded way of putting all the blame on the players.
I do feel for Dodds, though - he should be a Premier League coach with Sunderland right now, enjoying his part in a stunning opening day win, with an unsullied reputation. Instead he is in a role which simply doesnāt suit him. We all know it, whether we want to admit it or not. A thoroughly decent chap shifting around uneasily in a suit of clothes several sizes too large.
Just rewatched and the exact words were āIāve had a warning shot about some of the performancesā which, I agree with you, sounds like heās been told to start winning or get sacked.
I hope we get stuffed on Tuesday to speed things along.
I thought he was using warning shot to mean wake up call. I doubt Lommy is too fussed about results at the moment when he has a big academy to build.
We can also only hope that there was a warning from Lommy to Rice too. That would be a champagne moment!
Back-to-back in March.

I really like Lowry, but other than that I donāt think thereās a single upgrade in this squad based on what weāve seen so far. But then again, Dodds did manage to make even last yearās squad look shit, so maybe this lot could turn out amazing with a proper manager.
To be honest I thought he was right to be pissed off. We have been consistently crap on loose balls and challenges on the floor and in the air. It wasnāt like Doncaster were an especially scrappy team, they were just more determined than us.
But we were also pretty shoddy on the ball today. Lots of players took the easy option and booted it long, which is clearly not what theyāre being instructed to do.
If that performance was everything MD doesnāt want us to be then Iāve no idea in what direction he thinks heās been taking us!
Maybe, as in many a revamped si-fi movie, his tenure as head coach is only something which makes sense when viewed through the hindsight of history?
Perhaps 10 months (years/decades/weeks) from now it will all make perfect sense.
Well we played rubbish but got a point away to a team that had won all three games this season.
Unfortunately he was wrong in his action with Grimmer. If he calls on the physios then they do not need to go off
According to Doncaster Rovers manager Grant McCann we have āa unique way of playing with a 3-diamond-3ā formation (see 00:12).
That was an interesting interview. On a personal level I feel for the guy but I want us to win games letās hope we win and he is happier.
I have very little idea what Dodds is trying to do. I like the cut of his interviews and what Iāve heard from inside the club, he seems like a man full of integrity.
I also think thereās no point in getting too annoyed as, unless we are staring down the barrel of relegation, he wonāt be getting fired
