There are whole other worlds out there passing me by!
Very depressing if those are the only two options.
Maybe Iâm innocent here, but iâm not sure itâs âobviousâ such places exist.
Maybe I donât move in the right..or should I say âwrongâ circles!
Though I remember hearing someone say there was a âwell knownâ brothel round the corner from the Retail park.
But I still wonder if they were getting mixed up with the name of the barber shop, which is âHoaresâ.
And like all old bastads, that triggers a tale from yonder - being in GCSE German class.
We had a school dinner lady called âMrs Hoareâ.
So In my German assignment I meant to write Mrs Hoare works in the Canteen.
But managed to spell Hoare wrong. And get the word for Canteen utterly wrong too.
Whoops.
The barbers is Hawes, but it still makes for the same confusion.
The tenuous link to barbers is good enough for me to recount a story from my youth.
My elder brother, about 15 yes old at the time, took himself to the barbers in Prestwood for a trim only for the barber to completely remove one sideburn (they were trendy at the time).
When my brother said âF**king hell what are you doingâ, the barber refused to finish the cut leaving my brother with only one sideburn.
My dad forced him to cycle to Holmer Green to have the other sideburn removed so his haircut matched.
Baker Street and roads nearby, to be precise (round the back of Desborough Road). And no, itâs not my thing. But one only had to use that area as a thoroughfare to be approached. Very depressing.
I agree @Malone, it is certainly not obvious to me such places exist in Wycombe.
Gotta love Gasroom thread derailmentsâŚ.at least it wasnât cheese puns this timeâŚ. ![]()
Its a staple at this point. Canât have a thread that doesnât have a derailment
Clicks on Fulham Thread finds a brothel ![]()
Perhaps Fulham are known as the Cottagers for a different reason to the one I had assumedâŚ
Didnt think lewd acts were allowed in the public domain. But maybe thats why they were so silent at Adams Park
In my attendance prediction I was going to refer to the away crowd as Cottagers but I had an uncomfortable feeling that the term used to be used to describe individuals other than the occupants of small, often thatched, country dwellings.
There was also the White Horse Pub one could frequent with a beer and strippers. Played for there Sunday football side many years agoâŚ
I have an amusing story about the time I ended up in a Japanese brothel. When I say âamusingâ I mean âsoul destroyingâ.
âwhore house in the middle of our streetâ ![]()
Reminds me. Havenât forgotten that the chant at St Mirren for CB-N was âBoyd-Munce, in the middle of our team, Boyd-Munce.â Would love to hear that at AP, if and when he gets regular game time.
He was serenaded with that when he came up to take his penalty. Itâs a banger.
Itâs a public service thread. From now on I will tread caerphilly if Iâm ever round the back of the Desborough Road.
