Match Day Thread: Fulham 7th Oct 2025 (EFL Trophy)

If it’s going to be a back 4 going forward (which is probably for the best) then Huggins has to be given a shot at right back. Back was poor on Saturday and Grimmer has been pretty poor all season particularly in the last 2 games

Think the fact it was C*lu had a lot to do with it.

I guess this begs the question

“Is Grimmer only in the team because he’s Captain?”

I agree with this.I was worried about Skura being a bit inexperienced but having seen the alternatives both he and Anders are the best two.Dunno what’s happened to Grimmer but he is really struggling for form.

I didn’t like his attitude and or lack of any real celebration after the goal… he looked almost annoyed and or frustrated after the goal…. I find him very hard to read. He dosnt look very happy to be here?….

Are you counting wages in there?

As the only figure bandied about before was 900k? But you’re going over a mill?

I love Jack… but agree…. I don’t know what’s going on with him atm… his form is horrific. He isn’t and never will be our most gifted defender… but he has always been solid enough….did a job… and left everything on the pitch….

To me I always thought of him as the new Mr Wycombe.

I never 100% rated Bloomfield as a top player for us tbh… but he gave everything and just had to be in the team.

Going back further… a Danny Bullman type.

Actually with Grimmer I thought he was getting better… seemed more confident getting down the line and pushing up…. I even though at one point his crossing was seriously improving. ..

He just seems clumsy and fault prone atm…. Maybe he has stuff going on beyond football on his mind? Or maybe he feels the pressure of being pretty much thr last one from the old regime and sees his time here as numbered?

I think the lack of celebration was because he felt sorry for the poor kid defending who slipped just as he was about to clear the ball into touch, which let him in for the goal.

When I met him last week at the sponsors day (with fellow gasroomers) he was in good spirits and seemed content with himself and the club and just wanted to get a goal. That will help him no end and more will follow

I would imagine that a head coach not much older than him, who had never played professional football, trying to get him to play in a way he’d never had to play before, and having to publicly defend all that may have had some influence on Grimmer’s loss of form.

We shouldn’t be playing an u21 side. End of story.

I’ve still only ever seen one game in this competition. That was the final.

They’re just players with limitations.

We are trying to play (or at least we were under Dodds) an expansive game with huge spaces between defence and attack.

That’s very challenging, even for very good players.

Jack is a great defender in a side which stays compact and allows its players to mark the man, rather than being required to marshall huge swathes of the pitch.

Very much looking forward to my first trip to Wigan. For those that like pies (of which I do not), you have this to look forward to. The infamous ‘Wigan kebab’ or ‘Pey Wet’. Not sure if the football club sells them but remember watching that American guy from Man eats food tucking into one of these.

Real Wiganers call them a pie barm.

Pey wet is the byproduct of making mushy peas, an unpleasant thin green liquid substance which for some reason people put on chips. It’s thinner than the mushy peas visible in the photo above.

There are many fewer pie shops in Wigan these days than there used to be. My favourite (potentially controversially as they are from Bolton) is Greenhalghs. The biggest chain from Wigan is Galloways.

Being my judgemental self, I’ve already added Fink to the “Another terrible signing, who the f#ck are scouting these players” list.

The list contains basically every player we’ve bought in under the og clowns, not including loan players. I did think there was a player in Mullins, he’s since been added.

Junior, Shamel and Back currently off said list…

Recruitment shambles

I think you’re being harsh on Fink. I’m happy to be proved wrong, but he had a severe injury and I think it’s been a confidence thing.

Remember he had a perfectly good goal disallowed at Wimbledon. I’m biding my time on Brad until he’s got some decent minutes in him.

I hope to be proved wrong to…

Even his goal at Wimbledon, he scuffed it and it somehow went through the keeper and the 300 players on the line. At the time my first thought was they’d stopped playing because in normal circumstances that doesn’t go in.

Im ultra critical off players i know, but he doesn’t seem capable and even worse he doesn’t seem to try, he half hearted closing down is very frustrating.

I have to agree with your assessment of Fink. I know he’s been out for a period of time but he seems to lack a lot of the attributes of a decent centre forward and is very lethargic around the pitch. Hopefully I’m proved wrong in the next weeks and months but he looks a poor signing adding to a number of other poor signings.

I still think he’s got something about him, although that’s based as much on a hunch as anything we’ve see so far from him

I think he’s got good movement and a decent touch. The sort of player that could go on a run of really good games

We’ll see
