Match Day Thread: Gillingham 11th Nov 2025 (EFL Trophy)

Oops I was trying to reply to an earlier post about Duff being all about winning without style.

Just four wins away from Wembley!

Rubbish! 1st goal doesn’t happen without him. Check it out. Held the ball well, 80+ % of passes landed with team mates in 1st half

Combined record of the kids teams
W6 D8 L34
Only one of sixteen teams qualified and that only by one goal on GD.

Not for me. Kone wasn’t a do or die as it kind of appears with Fink due to his price tag. Had Kone not done well no one would really care, just be disappointed. Fink is the kind of player that comes with a big price tag and all eyes on him to do well.

Completely different

Cheeky little reminder from Gaz there. ‘They’ve got millions of pounds on the pitch - they’ve got a big budget and they’ve spent a hell of a lot of money’.

I thought Arthur Gregory was brilliant last night. I can see him off to a L2 club on loan for some regular game time. Matton was also great.

Junior is banging on Mike Duff’s door for a start after that performance.

Nothing was getting past Connor in the air last night; will be interested to see if Casey keeps his place or Connor comes back in. More ‘good’ problems.

I think I speak for most of us that we’re all willing Fink to kick on his Wycombe career. A well taken goal. Looked a bit out of sorts 1st half.

And if we ever go to Gillingham, go to the Southern Belle and spend a few quid. Lovely little pub, clean, well kept and amazing landlady.

Great to see Gareth looking so healthy.

Have we had a manager consistently talk as much sense as Duff? Every interview he’s absolutely spot on with everything he says.

Yep. Being a football manager is basically just repetitive problem solving. It bodes well that with each interview he gives he makes it all so simple. I’d imagine that style of communication goes down well with the players. What do I need to do boss? A, B and C. Sorted.

I just love every single post match interview Duff has done. He really makes the game so simple and understanding.

We really have a manager who knows his stuff about Football besides tactics and spreadsheets

“Big hairy centre backs, all over him like a rash”. Love it.

Fink needs a run of games where he’s playing 70+ minutes every week. Very difficult when appearances are fragmented to get any fluidity. The issue he’s got is that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

I know it is early days but he appears to be a great appointment and one Dan Rice should be given credit for.

Totally agree.

You wouldn’t know Bradley wasn’t English…except for a little German word order. ‘In the second half we came very good out.’

Yeah his English is exceptional, isn’t his Mum English?

Although most Europeans are, and having worked with Swedes (I know Fink is Swiss) a lot in my career, they put many of us to shame with their grasp of the English language
