Match Day Thread : Leyton Orient

Totally agree with everything you say

the post just posred by the club shows just how much they think of the fans

Apropos nothing in particular the local where I am in Oxford was full of Sunderland fans earlier - all with respect for MD and how good he was as a coach..

Apparently lots of their supporters think they’ve been rubbish since he left

With all due respect, completely different role and circumstances. Sam Smith used the old adage, ā€œpressure is a privilegeā€, in his post-match interview. For us, it’s been an albatross, and not one that seems to have been well-managed within the club as a whole during this run-in. As fans, of course it’s had an effect on us too.

I thought we started positively. Playing some good football. One touch, get the ball out wider to Leahy. SImons and Scowen bossing the midfield. Norris hit some lovely passes, although Leahy didn’t quite get to them.
Then Scowen got clattered by Galbraith. Looked a red card in the ground and I have not seen a replay.
Yet again, Dodds chose to replace a ball winner with a flair player and yet again we were outplayed in the middle of the park.
Lowry has showed some flashes, aka early Mehmeti but he just doesn’t offer enough defensively to merit being in this side without Scowen behind him.
Today had an air of inevitability about it once we’d gone our 11th game in a row without a goal in the first half.
Kone was poor but he has needed a rest for weeks, poor management to keep playing him when he is clearly struggling. So much so that he cannot even control a simple pass at the minute. I love him but he clearly needs a break. I think Humphries may also need a break and perhaps next week would be worth having him on the bench to begin with.
Those saying MB took 18 months to gel, have forgotten the brilliant first half of 2024 we had. He took 10 months to really get us going. The thing is he changed us from a long ball, pressing team to a passing pressing team in 10 months. Once he ditched the back 3 there was no looking back.
I appreciate Dodds has not had Morley and Harvie available but Simons is decent enough, as is Leahy. We have one too many defenders on the pitch and it is often a back five which is killing our attacking intent. He needs to go to 4-2-3-1 next week.
I’d bring Ravazolli in, to give Norris a kick up the arse.
Grimmer, Low, Bradley, Taylor
Scowen (if fit) Simons
Fred McCleary Sadlier
Udoh

Subs: Norris, Leahy, Lubala, Kone, Humphreys, Vokes and Westergaard

I think Dodds has also made a big mistake not getting big Sam back in the fold and playing. He’s been fit for quite some time but Dodds doesn’t want to pick him. He could have really given Kone a rest recently if he’d showed some faith in Vokes.

Finally, I think I’m bordering on not renewing season tickets. It was normally the cost that made me want to not renew but this last few months has been a shitshow from top to bottom. I really hope MB keeps Luton up now and goes onto show the management group why they should have shown him a lot more respect than they did.

Interview on wanderers tv, not posted to twitter like normal. I gave it 17 seconds, heard the bbc one and that was enough for me. Apparently they took their chances and we didn’t. Which is weird as we didn’t have a chances on target other than 2 tame shots.

Yes, not particularly happy after losing today but all complimentary about him..

Unfortunately, reminded about the play off final where we didn’t really turn up..

Those interviews - just like Monday’s and many overall - were horrible to watch. More evidence that he has no idea what the problems are or how to fix them.

the bloke is clueless…nice guy but terrible.head coach…he wont change his playimg style or get sadked …so looks like average attendance will.be dropping

I honestly hope this is a blip and MD can either get us up and then massively rebuild for success in the summer or get us ready to kill League One next term. My worry is these are probably the best squad of players we’ve had in the last 12 or so years and were winning games and scoring for fun. I know we lost Morley and we were being ā€˜found out’ (apparently) before MB left…but I am surprised it became such a grind under a possibly more experienced coach with that team. The teams that have come to AP recently haven’t been that good.
Booing the players or MD is pointless especially just before a playoff campaign, in which I hope we rise triumphantly.
I’ll clap the players at the weekend and I hope they still pull something out of the hat to end the season on a high.
I hope the management group are looking back at their stewardship this term and learning lessons. I realise that Prem teams can afford to shed old gits and families as there are big spenders queueing up to replace them…not so sure it works that way at our level.

One other thought, Butcher or Humphries alongside Simons if Scowen is injured or needs taking off. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!!!

Well maybe you dont care about football as much as some do then

Same goes for Hanlan. We’ve left ourselves woefully short of strikers

No. I’m just saying Wrexham have done well.

I wonder if Hanlan, Butcher, Hartridge and any of our other 300 players that are out on loan can play in the play-offs?

Poor Butch. From hero to outcast, and even when he got some semblance of action, and started to shine again, it was at that pig iron yo-yo club.

We need Hanlan and Butcher back asap
