what a huge late autumn for people who dislike the phrase ‘our recruitment is terrible’ and understand an EFL season is 46-49 games long
hmmmm
It is interesting that some players written off have really stepped up. Norris has become stabd out No1. Trimmer wasnt wanted by many, Casey was deemed not good after a few games. Anders has taken pelters, sane with Fred. And the Woodrow signing was so ridiculously criticised.
Go and fill that bloody glass for gods sake.
Don’t worry, I’m quaffing away like a good 'un after that win!

Today felt, in many ways, like a classic Ainsworth era game.
I said earlier in the season that I hadn’t been excited by any games under Dodds. That’s definitely changed now. Today was definitely exciting.
Goes to show…. It obviously wasn’t an issue with the recruitment…. It was an issue with the Head Coach… Dodds just wasn’t the man….. A nice enough bloke and I wish him well going forward but for us he was a damp squib …. A wet weekend…. A bit if a lemon….
Oh well… in Duff we trust. COYB!!!
Genuine question (whatever that means!)
If you think a comment is POTD, do you not consider giving it a like? You get more likes than most and I’ve long been puzzled by your apparent reluctance to return the compliments.
I’m just jealous really.
@glasshalfempty made his “relegation battle” comment when Michael Duff was in charge.
They did look really miserable, trying to hide under the trees opposite the Hour Glass pub, when we passed them at 2:30pm.
I can only assume they had nowhere else to be and maybe the riders had lost the office sweepstake to see who gave the horses a run out today.
As was mentioned in the fan’s forum on Thursday,I would hope one of the “couple of players they are trying to to turn into permantent signings” is Sam Bell.
He seems to be loving it here and he is a hell of a player (so similar to his dad ).
Lovely touch from sony bradley at full time, clapping the home support, he did the same at charlton amongst all their louts.
Best game to be at since we won 3 - 2 at their place last year. For me anyway.
Truth is that when posters were making those comments, and I was one of them, we were in a relegation dog fight.
Luckily for us Dodds got the heave ho and Duff has done wonders since arriving.
However, just because we had some talented players in the squad didn’t mean that was inevitable - it’s been a remarkable turn round and I’m very pleased about it too.
History tells us that not every new manager can turn things around in such a quick time frame and sometimes they don’t turn form round at all.
We’re 6 points off top and the most in form team in League 1. Who would have thought this two months ago?
Exactly this.
It’s not outrageous under a manager whose style had us looking so woeful, to question how good the signings even were.
But a lot of posts did suggest Dodds was making them look worse too.
We do still have question marks down the centre of the pitch - I can’t believe anyone thinks we couldn’t do with a better centre back, mid and striker to complement what we have.
However, the likes of Anders look to have finally broken through as we hoped, but feared wouldn’t.
There is no such thing as a “relegation dog fight” in August and early September
Very possible the signings are average but Dodds couldn’t get anything like the best out of them and Duff has worked out how to.
Hopefully Josh comes back fine and Luke keeps his form up. Those two and one of Henderson, Mullins, CBM and Lowry make a good middle three.
Definitely. The change of shape stopped them getting at us as much out wide and helped us regain a bit of control.
