Dodds wouldn’t

It was sung on the terrace in the first half!

That’s the kind of thought process that gets a lot of teams relegated. Before they realise they are in a relegation dog fight it’s too late to change the momentum and guess what happens …

pretty impressive performance considering our selfish owners and poor recruitment

I think Mullins’ impact has been underestimated. He works so hard in cutting off the passing lanes from defence to midfield and then to attack, thus preventing the pre-assist (is pre-assist a stat thing @oilysailor ?). In this amazing Duff world, I’ve been worrying about where we put Scowen, but I think this Mullins role is the logical place.

If you don’t appreciate Mullins, watch what we looked like with Lowry in his place last week and how easily any press was bypassed.

Maybe but Dodd’s wouldn’t have.

Only us and Rotherham don’t have red in our form on the BBC table. And we meet next week!

It’s the lucky, luxury bike shed wot won it.

Distrust the finishers. A good bench to try and claw back a deficit but Duff is grizzled enough to know that he started his most disciplined players and the bench weren’t going to add any steel in a backs to the wall ending. I love that he didn’t feel obliged to make changes but trusted the right players to do the job; he just keeps going up in my estimation.

Blocked by me but I assume he’s switched his irrational every game hatred from Leahy to Mullins?

I thought recruitment was good. All the players seemed to be popular and have a decent pedigree with their previous teams…which is why MD1 not really getting a tune out of them seemed strange. MD2 seems to have settled on a side and is getting the best out of them. Who knew an experienced L1 manager was the answer…?

Surely except for Bloomfield’s start to last season it is a long standing Gasroom tradition that five games in we are ‘not good enough’ and will be ‘lucky to survive.’‘?

I’m a big Mullins believer, but Ewan has been excellent recently. Hopefully we’ve got 30+ games left, so room for all of them.

In fairness to MD1 he didn’t have Bell and Woodrow to call on, who’ve been excellent since joining, and their presence helps get more out of Fred too IMHO.

However, there’s no way I’d want to swap back to Dodds as he was hopelessly out of his depth.

I’m encouraged by the comments from the fans forum that we’re looking to retain those we have (or words to that effect) in January and hopefully we can sign up Bell & Woodrow on permanent deals.

Stop confusing an old boy, Jude.

Now 14 pts from the last 6 league games, which puts us top of the L1 form table (2.33 PPG).

If only we’d had Duff right from the start, we’d be running away with this division.

If one of the players turned round to Duff and said “I wish we’d had you as manager since the start of the season”, I imagine he’d clip them round the ear and simply say “well you didn’t, so get on with it”. I think we as fans need to get on with it now. So many comments across different platforms with the same old “well, if wasn’t for Dodds it’d look even better right now…”. The jodhpurs have left the building.

Great win yesterday and fantastic to see that never say die spirit and togetherness.

The pass from Mullins to Bell for the 2nd goal was magnificent.

Agreed and Mullins is still developing his game. He made a big difference yesterday. The player I feel sorry for is CBM.

Not going to lie, when viewing it live my first thought was he massively over hit it and gave Bell a hell of alot to do.

What it transpired to do was simultaneously take Bradley out of the defence (he basically gave up running back), forced the keeper to come off his line and put it close enough to the defender behind Bell that any touch on bell (if it were to come) would have been a stone wall pen/red card.

Was probably a perfect example of passing into space, rather than to feet.

I must also say though, Anis Mehmeti’s 3rd assist for Bristol City yesterday with a similar ball was even better
