Match day thread: Lincoln 22nd Nov 25

With the added bonus that it shows Bell won’t get in their team any time soon.It would be tremendous if we could make Bell a permanent signing.

It is frustrating when some fans won’t acknowledge this point and make allowances for it.Mullins has the making of an exceptional talent.

A really good watch if you were a neutral.
I thought Lincoln’s fluidity was better than ours, they did move the ball with cohesion, purpose and confidence. I thought however we showed more flair and imagination, particuarly at scoring goals. In that sense I thought we outplayed the side that were top of the league. They didn’t have the brilliance of the Birmingham of last season or the storybook luck of last season’s Wrexham. I did think they had the confidence of Charlton at the end of last season.

I think what deservedly won us the game was the patience and grit to go for it at the end. It looked to me to be debilitating conditions out there. The later substitutions could be a masterstroke or maybe just luck, but our players certainly had energy and belief to give us a great and glorious game finale.

I feel too much optimism is a bad thing. Maybe. just maybe, the team will continue to grow and show the fluidity and cohesion that Lincoln put on yesterday. I would judge it that we have a team that now adds up rather than being less than the sum of its constituent parts. Best chant on the terrace yesterday “We’ve got our Wycombe back”. It remains to be seen how much of the joy can be transformed into confidence.

I already had a ticket for Rotherham, today I have just a touch of gleeful anticipation.

11+ minutes of extended highlights from the EFL for a change!

He’ll not want it, but I’m almost 100% certain their second was an Anders OG. His reaction, the relative lack of reaction from the striker helps hint towards it…

it is indeed, and he comes out very well on plenty of metrics this season. Incidentally, Bell’s second was the fourth big chance JM has created this season but the first that was scored (+ Fink & Magnus vs Bradford & Fred vs Reading)

Yes it looks like an OG. Tough on Anders as he had another great game.

100%. Was one of those that he had to put a block/tackle in and the striker either missed it or barely got a touch on it, so it bounced off him and into the goal. Harsh for sure. But wouldn’t want their striker getting a goal bonus for it

Agreed Boyd Munce has impressed every time I’ve seen him. Hopefully he takes his chance with Leahy suspended next week, as he covers the ground defensively a lot quicker than Leahy.

Leahy has continued to prove some of us wrong (myself included at times) with his performances and assists - so him being out next week really does give someone the opportunity to do well. I still think a midfield of Westergaard, Mullins and Henderson could be a strong line up. For me there have been similar glimpses of class in Westergaard that we are now seeing in Anders, although they have been in lesser cup games. CBM has done the same in those competitions too (as has Lowry)

It does remind me of a conversation on here a couple of months ago in regards to the summer transfer business this past summer vs the previous summerin regards to what was better - Mitchell involved or post Mitchell. It’s starting to be a less and less easy question to answer now there is confidence growing (and I think there’s more to come) in the squad.

Leahy has been a key player this season, I didn’t realise he is to serve a suspension.

Casey is probably the one person in the squad let alone team not to pick a fight with

I was one that was unsure because the team looked so short on confidence and so deflated. Sometimes it’s hard for teams to get out of the rut no matter how early in the season and no matter the manager.

BUT the turnaround has been sensational and now it’s a question of….how high can we finish? IF this form and momentum continues then there’s nothing stopping us being top 2 come May.

I have questioned both bell and Fred and stand my comments at the time, mainly centred around bell’s defensive effort but yesterday he had it all. Fred looks like the Fred that was sold, engaged and hunting. I’m more than happy to take the loss on any comments, all part of the fun in a forum. Long may it continue.

Mullins deserves a lot of credit for his improvement in form. I thought he was doomed after being hooked at half time at Wimbledon and the subsequent improvement in our performance when he was taken off. He is surely nailed on in that 10 role now. We have great balance in that midfield three. Long may this run continue.

Current form has us trending towards 87 points at the end of the season. Over the last few seasons this would have put us 3rd or 4th. This season however with the league so relatively compressed it has the potential to be a higher finish.

It’s pretty obvious, eric suffers with a tenosynovitis thumb

For some reason, I haven’t tracked who the yellow cards were for but cards across all competitions this season stand as this:

Yellow cards:

Wycombe 41 - 46 Opposition

Red cards:

Wycombe 1 - 1 Opposition

We are lower mid-table overall in terms of fouls, which I think is a good place to be - not a dirty team/poor discipline, but not so nice and ineffectual that you skimp on the physical side of the game.
