Match day thread: Lincoln 25th April 2026 (A)

I doubt this mob will be made up from many on here . It would be interesting to see the stats of who on here regularily attend matches. I suspect it would not be the majority.

If only. Don’t forget we have the most milquetoast fans in the league, it’ll just be another round of ā€œmove onā€ because that’s worked brilliantly so far.

It’s well known Bradley wanted to go back north so he’s certainly not one we can moan about.

Plenty of other moans are valid about the centre back options we’ve left ourselves with though.

The Joe Low and Caleb Taylor partnership was the best in the history of the club. Caleb Taylor could well be playing Premier League football next season. That’s what we need to try and replicate next season, and I think Duff will know the players he wants. I’m not suggesting that Anders and Casey should be leaving mind.

2 beasts in the air who can pass it, a strong striker who can actually onion bag and that’s a huge improvement straight away.

I’d be in favour of shipping a high amount of the last few windows of signings with very few exceptions.

Harsh but true.

Caleb was brilliant and would walk in, he was good on the ball as much as a CB. Obviously he was never ours or to stay ours.

I think Anders and DC are as good if not better than Low. Especially on the ball, and assuming we are still looking to play it out next season

Duff is a breath of fresh air, to me he is saying

I know the players that have the mentality to deliver success, and want the power to bring them in, and not have Rice and Co’s version of players imposed on him. It will be very interesting few weeks ahead.

I can’t decide if Duff is wonderful for our club calling out the utter shit going on behind the scenes. Or whether he’s lost the team. I’ll reserve judgement until the start of next season.

Are some of our team bad professionals or trying to get their manager the sack? Maybe a bit of both.

We also have to solve the goalkeeper problems if we’re going to be competitive. Neither of our options would appear to be up to the task, so it’s another summer priority.

I wonder, and this is probably clutching at straws. If players have raised issues with Norris. We know that there has been times players looked wary about playing back to him.

Duff is obviously backing Norris each week though.

I’ve just seen the goals - normal soft defending (1st Goal) plus 2 in the Norris again column (3rd & 4th). It’s been a constant theme all season. We are going nowhere unless we get this sorted.

Not the finish to the season that I was expecting- I thought we were in with a chance of a play-off spot but we are miles off it in 12th (Blackpool & Doncaster are only 3 pts behind) - I was clearly delusional.

One win in our last seven is cr4p - start next season with those sort of numbers and Duff will be out.

Can’t really make my mind up as to how many of the current squad are the required calibre.

It didn’t take Duff long to get good performances out of the players, but it clearly takes longer to change the culture which has been ruined by some frankly bizarre signings in the last 2 windows.

I really like what Duff said in the 2 interviews, he’s spot on.

The hope is that what he’s said hits home with those in charge of recruitment. You’d hope that there’s some accountability for the signings made, as to be wasting money like we have on players not good enough and not of the right attitude reflects very badly on the OG.

Lincolns play was generally poor, however they obviously have players that can finish. That is the area Wycombe must improve. We need a centre forward who can stay fit and score goals next season. Otherwise Wycombe played well in the second half and Duff deserves a chance to impose his choice of players on team next season

I’m really looking forward to @Atomic rounding up some graphs of the MoM votes from this season. I suspect the players who were here before Rice will feature strongly. Don’t know if he’ll be able to normalise for the pity votes that Fink and Taylor get though.

Quite a telling comment from Duff though on Norris. ā€œTheir keeper made saves, our didn’tā€. Not sure Duff necessarily rates Norris, it’s more that he sees him as our best option. Which doesn’t really say much for Van Saas!

The fines pot is often used to fund the players Christmas party

I would imagine the suggestion is that the fines pot was in place for that reason alone, and not to hold each other accountable to the standards demanded of them

I doubt that’s why we lost today

I dare say it has zero impact on the reason we have 7 points in 10 games or so.

Some interesting comments here. I found Duff’s post-match interview a bit all over the place if I’m honest.

Lots of the stuff he mentioned could have been dealt with behind closed doors rather than post match on the penultimate weekend of the season.

He talks about the fines pre and post Christmas. That’s over 120 days ago. Why’s he bringing it up now?

Felt for all the world like an interview designed to be heard by those holding the purse strings to me. Fair enough, but if he thinks the culture is bad then he is allowed to do something about it other than just wait until the end of the season, slag off the players and hope he gets a big budget to spend
