COME ON WYCOMBE

(Wycombe and Luton) could still make the play-offs with both having already had managerial changes to try to shake-off disappointing starts.

Jack Wilshere’s much-heralded appointment at Luton has brought a slight, if unspectacular improvement with his 18 points from 10 games lifting them three places up to eighth. For the record they had accrued 16 points from their opening 11 matches.

But progress has slowed with one win from their past six outings culminating in a 3-2 loss at Reading last Thursday.

“We’re starting to build that identity of who we are, but the identity involves in possession, out of possession, transitions, set plays, in this league especially,” said Wilshere.

Michael Duff’s impact at Wycombe has been more immediate and impressive.

Two defeats from his 13 league games in charge have taken the Chairboys to within six points of the play-off places, having lost in the semi-finals last season.

They have also only been beaten once on the road under Duff while recent wins over Bolton and Lincoln make them a side worth watching as the promotion race hots up.

This is chance for either team to force their way into the conversation or slip further behind.

It seems odd that we’re playing in yellow today, against a team playing in orange.

I would have thought that either the first or third choice shirts provide a better contrast.

Just like to point out this extract from the club’s charter (accessed on official site today). It doesn’t appear to be followed.

I can only assume we have some contractual obligation with Hummel. Here are the shirts we’ve worn this season over the whole season and EFL only:

All games:

Blue: 22

Yellow: 6

Green: 3

EFL only:

Blue: 15

Yellow: 3

Green: 3

I am reminded by FB that on this day in 2010, I commented that our fixture at AP (v Hereford Utd) had been the coldest match I’d ever experienced. Might @micra be able to drag up the weather stats on that day? I can see that we won 2:1, with GA scoring the opener.

If it is a contractual obligation the club are breaching their own policies (see club charter above).

I remember an absolutely brutal mid week home match against Coventry a few years ago that was the coldest I’ve ever been.

The entire country was sub zero that day but Adams Park seemed to have its own Baltic micro climate that evening.

Having difficulty processing this but hope it works now.

I doubt Lommy would have any legal obligation to comply with the charter. In theory (subject to EFL regulations) we could play in purple polka dots with a Kazakhstan flag in the background.

It was -6 on my car thermometer that night.

I would highly recommend any of the travelling faithful to consider packing sunglasses - Lu’un’s horrendous orange kits are always a matter of concern as far as potential retinal damage is concerned, but they seem to have upped their game on the eyesore front with some truly ghastly club knitwear.

When I was a kid, I always recall Luton in white. The Stein brothers and those late 80s cup runs. When did the Orange come about?

70’s it looks like it was introduced. And went in and out of favour.

But I guess most recently, they seem to have had an orange first-choice kit imposed on them after getting sponsored by EasyJet (for obvious reasons), and it’s never changed back…

Kenilworth Road is such a shit hole!
