Match Day Thread: Plymouth 9th Dec 25

As someone has said in another thread, this feels like a pivotal point in the season.

It’ll be interesting to see how Michael Duff reacts to the dismal weekend showing. There’s only one real selection dilemma - Connor Taylor or Dan Casey? - otherwise no-one is pushing to start. Will Alex Lowry even make the bench?

Plymouth Argyle are in a bit of a mess. Their best player, striker and leading goalscorer Lorent Tolaj, serves the second of a three-match, which severely limits their attacking threat.

If we have any play-off pretensions, this really is a “must win” game. There’s no such thing of course.

It’ll be interesting to see the reaction, will it be a nervous , low on confidence Wycombe or a thoroughly determined effort not to repeat the last two performances/

I’m going to be bullish and go for a win for us by four goals to nil
If we start on the front foot and getting an early goal, I see no reason why not

I’m expecting a big reaction, i’m sure Duff is too.

Realistically we should batter them

Not game related but just a heads up for those wanting the wool Christmas jumpers. No medium in stock and a few large (when I left at 1.00). Plenty of the ones with an x and an L in.

A filthy night in store, for sure. Will the wind blow in our favour or provide the perilous Pilgrims with a life raft to safety? Let’s see what we’re made of. They were rotten deckchair material when we met in the cup and duly folded with a whimper.

Feels like every matchday thread this season has been prefaced by “this is a pivotal game in our season”.

Fitting weather for Boat puns

I know our old friend @glasshalffull would not like it but to me this seems like a must win game to get us back on track after two poor performances and keep our playoff hopes alive.

A bit damp but not a cold one so no need for the heated gillet this evening me thinks.

Plus I have a spare ticket for the FA as a mate has bailed, yours for the price of an IPA in the Vere pre game. Dm me if interested.

I’m very much team Dan Casey. He seems like much more of a gritty wet Tuesday night player than wibbly wobbly Connor Taylor.

Weather looks OK.

11*c all game and moderate winds at 10mph. Rain looks like it will finish around KO too.

Nervous about tonight. We’ve been really off it the last 2 games, but need a big performance tonight. Plymouth have won their last 2 away games I believe and really seem to have tightened things up defensively, apart from the Wimbledon game when they were down to 10.

If we can score early, we could be in for a comfortable night. If they take the lead at any stage, I suspect they’ll fight and scrap to keep hold of the points. Adams isn’t afraid to employ the dark arts no matter what he used to feel about us doing it. I remember them giving us a masterclass in the dark arts when beating us 1-2 a few years back under Adams. Think that was also the time they wouldn’t kick off until we’d presented paperwork saying our players could wear the monitoring devices that pretty much all players wear now.

Anyone else in non GB locations being told the feed is unavailable?

Bit too early. Give it an hour and it’ll be there.

Connor Taylor looks like he’s figuring out the mechanics of walking still.

Mullins got treatment in the first half on Saturday and didn’t come out for the second half. I’m hoping it was tactical/protective because no Henderson and no Mullins leaves a very depleted midfield.

Henderson’s quality is really showing in his absence.
