Match Day Thread: Port vale (H) 28th Mar 2026

Perhaps they are being asked to do more in terms of short passing and distribution, with an increased desire to keep possession rather than just clear the ball which puts them in higher risk situations. Perhaps they have less of a focus on ‘traditional’ goalkeeping skills in training. Or perhaps it’s not a trend at all.

Well said MR67. We may not make as much noise in the Frank Adams but at least we give positive encouragement and not the negative stuff that the terrace gives out. The club often praises the terrace without acknowledging the Frank Adams but the Frank Adams fans are the ones that have been going through thick and thin . The Terrace boo boys will be gone once we hit a sticky patch.

If the truth be known I was somewhat taken aback to be described as modern. @thecatwwfc is clearly unaware that I am hurtling towards my 90th birthday. Give or take.

Heartening that it took so long for someone to sneer about the Gasroom criticisms of the Norris booing. In the recent past there would have been someone defending it in seconds. Unless I’ve blocked them all, of course

Chuckling away at the characterisation of the Frank Adams stand as a bastion of positivity!

Also, there are dinosaurs on that terrace who have been going for decades. I’m often one of them

The nearest you get to a toxic atmosphere in my part of the Frank Adam stand is a couple of us looking at each other with frowns at some indiscretion by the chair boy icons on the pitch

Nothing will silence them I fear. They are simply dim.

If only they would stay positive and start singing with it. Now that would magnificent.

Everyone’s entitled to an informed opinion, mine is that Norris has been fortunate to keep his place. That’s rather different from taking the first opportunity of the game to ironically cheer him making a simple catch, cowardly undermining his confidence further.

Stockport away will be make or break for our play-off hopes, if we win then we’ll be going into the remaining five games on a high. If we lose, then preparations for next season will begin.

It’s not exclusively down to Connor Taylor to “deal with Kyle Wootton”. Our back four are more interchangeable positionally during games than yer average League One back four. But Connor’s three inch advantage over Wootton could be quite handy.

Let’s hope that on Friday it is one of the two games in three that he fails to score. And, as a bonus, it’s the one game in six that Connor scores or assists a goal.

kyle wooton might not even start, it will probably be Olaofe

I’m more looking forward to seeing how many goals Nathan Lowe will score playing in his correct position against a club that played him out of position.

I’d completely forgotten (a) that Stockport was Nathan Lowe’s last (loan) club and (b) that they played him wide. Instant motivation.

Overall a good day. A 4 nil win, although it didn’t feel like a 4 nil game, and the beer was actually (semi) ok in the Vere this time out. Happy Days.

The Saxby’s cider is pretty decent, if that’s your sort of thing

Boom
