Match Day Thread: Port vale (H) 28th Mar 2026

Presumably because Morley and Boyd-Munce have been absolutely outstanding together?

Did what we needed to do yesterday and nice to see us keep the foot on the gas all game.

Roll on the Easter weekend. I’d like to see the same team again, keeping Jack at centre and Niall at right. Taylor, who I admit I thought couldn’t cut it and I was wrong, gets an experienced, wise and encouraging pro alongside him to keep his confidence up and Huggins gets to work with Fred/Junior. Allen when back on the bench for me. If the game’s won it’s a nice option to rest one of Jack, Taylor, Huggins with him as a sub and position switches.

You can’t sub Harvie so easily but then he is a feckin’ superhuman.

Although Lowe may be ā€˜more effective’ off the bench, I think we need him and Woodrow on for the 90 or until the job is done. Junior is the impact sub for me and if Duff can keep the midfield options happy and rotated we still have a shot at this with no injuries and a soupƧon of luck.

Yeah I agree we should be unchanged next week. It must be a real ā€œgo for it attitude.ā€ Next two games are must-win so need to be treated like cup finals.

Speaks volumes about the modern football ā€œfanā€

Normally we are in the main stand and don’t get bothered by them but on Tuesday night at the Slough game, we were right next to them and they are a bloody disgrace.

Totally agree I’m by no means a fan of Norris. I think he makes too many unforced errors but once they cross the line onto the pitch and wearing our shirt we give them all the support we can. The head coach will have his reasons for playing him and bearing in mind I have a lot of respect for Mike Duff that’s good enough for me. It’s right that these morons need to be called out and indeed I called one out on the Facebook friends Page this morning.
What these half wits seem to overlook is that this type of behaviour could seriously put Players off of coming to the club and indeed even make Mike Duff have second thoughts about staying here Should he get approached by someone else. I was at the Slough game on Tuesday, but I was sat in the Home stand although I was at orient heard the booing every time Norris touched the ball. Who were they having a go at at Slough although I can probably guess

If that happens again can I urge all fans to shout them down. Thank You Jack for your comment. Regards

Looking at the league table, as I love to, but I think Bolton (without Blackett-Taylor) and Bradford could be caught. In fact we can go above Bradford as early as Easter Monday. Maybe it’s more doable than I thought.

I’m sure @micra will be pleased to hear he is an example of a modern football fan. He has also got a sense of humour.

Easy when you say it quickly innit.

We’re 6 points behind Bradford with a game more played.

We need to be close to perfect really and hope 3 or 4 teams don’t have a strong finish too.

I think Mr Cat doesn’t really get forum humour at times.

It’s not Brian May or Darren Day, it’s…

…a bit of bed wetting with a little bit of piety thrown in for good measure.

Not sure a few dickheads taking the piss is worthy of such handwringing.

It’s a good excuse for some fans to call other fans scum though.

Of course if Will Norris wanted to be taken more seriously then perhaps he ought to take his goalkeeping more seriously.

The one he threw in his own net at Orient last week probably represented the last chance to snatch an unlikely play-off place.

I remember when players who made mistakes like that were dropped, now they get slaps on the back.

Stockport County at Edgeley Park next up (L-D-L-L-L-D-L-L-L-L-L-D-W). The fact it’s on Good Friday feels apt. It’s likely to be the Golgotha to our season.

In which case we’re in great shape.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the second coming of Connor Taylor deals with Kyle Wootton.

I don’t particularly rate Norris. He’s made far too many mistakes and should have been dropped, although that probably says more about a certain someone and there recruitment the other option is worse.

But I wouldn’t in a million years boo any player that plays for us, i genuinely don’t understand what good could come of it, as in what’s the thought process behind it, bizarre

I did as did some others stood near me

After that result, I’d have thought he’d be purring. I used to be referred to as mouse by my late Charlton supporting brother. Bit embarrassing at times. Being called mouse in the directors box at Coventry many decades ago was one of those occasions.

To the best of my knowledge I’ve never revealed this little known fact before so I don’t think @thecatwwfc was triggered by that. Perhaps he’s running out of lives. I know I am !!

No good can come of it. And I think you’re being very generous to suggest that a thought process might be involved.

Any thoughts as to whether the standard of goalkeeping at this level is getting worse?

We’ve had plenty of errors from Norris and Van Sas but in recent weeks we’ve benefitted from pretty basic errors, including yesterdays first and Harris’ goal against Burton.

There just seem to be a lot more all round this season

My sentiments exactly
Good to see that the Facebook fans group are rounding on the morons concerned. One strand of mitigation was the age of the perpetrators i.e. 13/14/15. I have pointed out that many years ago when dinosaurs ruled the Earth I was that Age and watching Wycombe we’ve never have dreamed of having a go any of our Players and that goes for all my friends of the same age. Would be plenty of debate having our under age drink in yhe pub afterwards but you never slag off your own team from the terraces.
