Match Day Thread: Reading 23rd Aug 2025

Reminiscent of the early games under Dodds. We score and then basically lose all ambition to score again. Poor game management, too many long passes and far less ball retention since Fred’s goal.

Is Dodds Southgate in disguise? Some promising attacks, get a goal and then just sit back and let Reading give it to us.

Fucking nonsense.

What colour trousers is he wearing though?

An absolute disgrace that no one has absolutely smashed through Wing in that first half. He’s completely controlled the game. Soft. Soft. Soft.

Played really well for maybe 20 minutes this time. Lowry looks like he could be a little genius but also piss weak. Not enough bite and formation all weird again as per.

He needs to take Dodds with him though.

I’m not there and haven’t seen them, possibly a dark brown on the upper rear section of them now though.

I wish we had nailed him down to a long term contract

For twenty mins we were playing it around and getting behind them. Scored and the started playing long and just giving the ball to Reading.

Just before they scored I was thinking that Dodds should be furious that they stopped doing what (I think) he wants us to play.

Being one up was the time to do that control thing he has been banging on about when we are 0-0

Yeh, my wishful thinking didn’t last long.

I think we’re in a relegation battle

Really good start. 1-0 up. Playing good football with high intensity. And then completely stop and let Reading completely control the game. Why???

Consistent passing it around the back is a perennial ticking time bomb with these players, especially Van Sas who again looks so shaky. Wing’s goal came from us faffing around with it at the back, yet again. And yet when we do finally get it into midfield, it ends up inevitably being a Leahy punt up to no-one, and we lose the ball. This team completely lacks grit or spine or leadership. Where are the leaders? It’s like the complete opposite of an Ainsworth team

I’ve been so giddy about us leading wasn’t focused on how crap we’ve actually been since the opener.

For those who like stats, we’re losing on them too.

Wingy is a tremendous player. Sublime finish of a spinning ball.

I think they got a shade darker after that second goal went in!

Not the time, Pete. I’d like o see someone smash him off the pitch. Scowen would’ve done so after 5 minutes.

I’m hoping he was talking to Nuno about a project.
