Match Day Thread : Reading

I think our best bet is meeting Reading again at Wembley. The EFL force them out of the league and on the day it’s just us on the pitch. In this scenario, and on current form, we win the penalty shootout and go up.

In the event that Reading go bust after winning the play-offs, what would happen?

Does 3rd place go up? Or the loser of the play off final? Or does 1 less team get relegated from the championship?

@NorfolkBlue - It was a hypothetical situation, but if I were in Lomtadze’s shoes I’d be paying very close attention to how Rice’s performance can be evaluated. What will probably save him is if he can show the setting up of the academy is going well, as this would appear to be the focus of his ambitions.

Which may conflict with the focus of us as supporters, which is on the first team being as successful as it can be.

I believe a precedence for this was when Swindon won the old 2nd Division play-off against Sunderland but were denied promotion because of financial irregularities, Sunderland went up in their place.

@DrCongo and @Shev , this seems totally at odds to what you were under the impression happened.

I agree. The only really successful and necessary signing has been Bradley. Unfortunately we could never rely on Taff being available.

think Reach has also been very good…

Obviously Morley , but the lack of striking options such a big issue i’m surprised we didn’t find a Danish striker to sign …. Harvey being injured has highly impacted us.

Ive heard the same from a very good source, and no im not saying who, as it would cost him his job, they were happy for Blooms to stay, but it had to be as a head coach, he didnt want that so left the first job he was offered. Ive known this for month’s, but never said anything as i knew id be shouted down, with the amount of anger there was at the time there was no point.

Tbh, theres still so much anger and negativity, im still unsure wether i can be bothered to stay a gasroom member

Bloomfield WAS pushed out. There is absolutely no doubt about that.

Some of the stories I’ve heard simply beggar belief.

I’m utterly ashamed at the way my club has behaved this season. We don’t deserve to go up. I’m not going to say more as I don’t want to get into trouble.

I rest my case

This is rubbish. We created loads of clear cut chances v Shrews. I can think of 3 in the first half alone (two for Kone, one for Simons). Then 3 in the second half (Kone’s one-on-one, Simons shot, Grimmer’s header).

And we created at least two very clear chances yesterday (headers for Bradley and McCleary), plus another (Scowen’s shot in the second half) which was very close.

there are 2 sides to every story … get behind the team or go and support another team

There is so much anger for a reason. I’m even more angry that the full story about Bloomfield hasn’t come out. I’d love to tell it in full but I can’t betray confidences. I’m angry that Bloomfield is being portrayed as some sort of Judas. I’m angry that our fans don’t seem to have any understanding of the story. And I’m angry with that pathetic Alex Lowry song. If I’m angry that one of our greatest servants has been forced to leave a club that he loves, I’m very sorry and I’m sorry if that makes me a bad person and forces others to leave the Gasroom.

There are more than two sides to a story!

I’m sure he heard a lot worse at Rangers.

I wonder what he makes of playing in front of 50,000 people where his performance would be all over the national media the next day to crowds of 3,500 against towns he’s never heard of?

Almost like he’s retired from football!

I’m sure Alex Lowry doesn’t care less about that song. But I do. It’s despicable and I feel embarrassed that fans of a club I support can sing such stuff about a Wycombe legend completely unconnected to the player in question.

This is a bit my source versus your source, ive no reason to disbelieve my one, as hes been right so many times over the years. Perhaps we’ll just have to agree to disagree and leave it there.
