Sorry I’m not agreeing to disagree at all. I have multiple strong sources and I’m dealing in facts not opinions. Happy to talk offline.
I think you are exaggerating some of those. The Simons one that was tipped over by Blackman was a half chance at best, you wouldn’t ‘expect’ a definite goal from that situation.
Kone’s header over the bar in the first half against Shrewsbury should have ended up in the net, I’ll give you that one.
We are not carving teams open on a regular basis though, though I thought some of our play in the first half yesterday was very good.
We have the squad to get us promoted this season, it’s just about finding the right combination in the forward areas. I’d like to see Lowry and maybe Berry get a starting spot on Tuesday.
I’ve heard both sides , firstly it was from
Bloomfield links and everything was he was treated badly and pushed out . I heard Dan wasn’t particularly nice to him however i’ve heard it from several links from people who work at the club or very closely connected that it wasn’t like this. So let’s just say the truth is somewhere in the middle.
It’s an embarrassing chant, but the one about having a party if Reading FC ceases to exist was far worse. I don’t see how any one who genuinely loves the game would even think about singing that.
Doesn’t really work like that I’m afraid. It’s possible to have independent thoughts and still support your team.
The ownership group are not what I’d call good people.
Surely you can just confirm that Blooms was NOT offered a contract? That would not “betray” your confidences.
There were maybe 3-4 in the Shrews game (2 Kone headers, fhe Grimmer header and at a push the Humphreys chance), but clearly created none against Reading.
I don’t find the focus on shots useful when any side can shoot from 20-30 yards a dizen tims a game.
It’s decent chances that matter and other than against Shrews that’s none for a fair few games.
A dizen tims (as Malone might have said) is quite a lot.
Really miss Malone.
Where is he?
So wait, after weeks of hot debate where not ONE person had a source saying it was Blooms’ fault, countering sources now begin to magically appear? Do any of them rhyme with Ban Vice?
Utter nonsense. I’ll say this - I first heard as far back as the summer that Blooms was “not their man”, before a ball had been kicked this season. Then I saw people get sacked out from under him, also before a ball was kicked. I assume the new sources are blaming that on Blooms too?
There is zero chance of us going bust after winning the final. Either we have a new owner of we will not even be in the playoffs. If we do not have new owners within a couple of weeks we will be suspended and either not be able to play the last two games or the suspension delayed until 1st. May, depending on Bristol Rovers results in the meantime, as our penultimate game is against them. If Rovers are not safe an extension would be granted, No way would the EFL allow us to play Barnsley (who won’t be going up or down this season) in the final game of the season. It would be carnage at the SCL if that game was played if Dai still owned the club and expulsion was a possibility.. Barnsley would be awarded that game 3—0 to preserve the table looking as though all games were played. The extended suspension would be announced on a game by game after the 22nd. April to avoid the last away game (Rovers) being wrecked by protests. I must stress I have no facts to base this on only that I feel this is one way the EFL could avoid trouble and/or legal issues regarding final positions. What will happen after the season ends I, or anyone else knows. It could be that Dai has sold sold the club by then and we all get to enjoy our football next season or expulsion from the EFL.
We had enough good chances against Shrewsbury, don’t think anyone can complain about lack of creativity. Asides from those mentioned, Kone had 2 one on one situations with the keeper and there were multiple half chances. At Reading, probably just the McCleary header that could go down as a clear cut chance. A few other half chances
As I mentioned yesterday, I think we’re playing ok at the moment, but ok won’t be enough. No blame on Dodds at all. I think with the mass of random signings, he was handed a very tricky job.
A more plausible scenario @TheRoyalBiscuit is that Reading are denied the opportunity to play in the play-offs if DY doesn’t divest his directorship of RFC.
There is noway that the EFL automatically promote the third team, as the teams finishing in the other play-offs places would quite rightly have a case to sue the EFL.
Similarly why would they let Reading even play in the play-offs unless DY has complied?
The play-offs are technically a new competition which the teams finishing in 3rd to 6th are qualified to enter. That’s why the money is split between those clubs.
Anyway I hope it doesn’t come to that and DY f**is off by April 22nd. I don’t know why the EFL have granted an extension, do you?
Both Kone’s one-on-ones were on his left foot, which those chances made clear is basically non-existent. Even the McCleary header was a half-chance really. I’m talking chances where you either think “WHAT A SAVE!” or “How has he missed that!?” if it doesn’t go in.
Those are clear cut chances.
Others range from “decent opportunities” that could go in but you don’t expect it (like the Kone one on ones) down to “why de he shoot from there?!”
And in the last few games (Shrews aside) our shots have been much more on the “why did he shoot from there?!” end of that spectrum.
Probably to kick the can the can down the road until they can have a nice neat ending to the season, without fear of any legal claims by clubs who would have come off worst or relegated/missed out on promotion or playoffs if the points were awarded or expunged.
Kone has scored 6 goals with his left this season.
I literally said ‘what a save’ after the McCleary header
OK, that’s your opinion, but I don’t think it’s one that most people held though. I certainly didn’t.
It was a decent save, but it’s at a nice height right at him and with not much power.
It may have seemed better in the stadium, but I’d watch it again in the highlights and see if you still think that.
I don’t recall any one on ones with his left, but I’m happy to be corrected on that. It’s much easier to score a snap shot with your swinger than it is to score a one on one with it.
