The Chairgirls are one match away from a final, pitted against another tier 5 side who beat AFC Croydon 5-2 and AFC Portchester 3-2 to reach this stage. Bowers are currently lying tenth out of 12 in the Eastern Region Premier, nine points clear of Enfield Town in the relegation zone but they had an excellent 4-0 win at home to Haringey Borough on Sunday. That was their first league win since 19 October.

Of course, we won 1-0 at Haringey in the Isthmian Cup earlier in the season, ten days after Bowers lost 3-2 there in their reverse league game. That form guide, and their win over Portchy, points to this being a close semi-final. Haringey, incidentally, are lying fourth and well behind runaway leaders Stevenage.

Bowers had a very good FA Cup run this season, all home ties, beating Hackney 4-2 (2QR), Colney Heath 7-2 (3QR) and Wimborne Town 3-2 (1R), before losing 3-2 to Sutton United in the 2nd Round in front of 422. They are still in the League and County Cups.

They have received 11 yellow cards in all games, the Chairgirls have two. Top scorer is Evie Clarke with 19 from 18, 11 from 13 in the league only.

Formed in 2018, Bowers were promoted to the Eastern Premier in their first season and have finished in the bottom half for the past four seasons. They play in red and white stripes, red shorts, and the 2000 capacity stadium, with 200 seats, has a 3G pitch.

Chilly night at Bowers & Pitsea FC but perfect for football. WW have been warming up for the last hour (to get the M25 out of their systems).

On top so far, getting into their box, couple of shots over the bar.

24’, BP 0-2 WW, lovely finish by Potter 10 yards out, top corner off the underside of the bar. Flicked header by Melton for the assist.

Oh dear, that looked messy

Thankfully out of camera shot - but given as a home goal

32’, BP 1-2 WW, defensive mess-up off camera, I think Beaver passed back to Axe and it somehow went in.

Edit - Evie Clarke intercepted the pass and scored with a tap-in.

41’, Bowers keeper tips cross onto bar and is cleared.

HT BP 1-2 WW, good performance but disappointing to only be one up.

The camera is losing track of the ball at times, maybe the floodlights on the shiny surface is fooling it.

Yes I think the glare is affecting the camera’s auto tracking of the ball a little bit

Axe with a near post save low down, nothing comes from the corner.
