Two weeks ago at Burnham these two teams fought out a very tense 2-2 draw. The Sirens had a very good first half, looking like the best team we have played this season, as they pressed us hard. After switching to three at the back at half-time, and in spite of quickly going 2-0 down, the Chairgirls took control and were the dominant side. Potter and Melton, very late on, secured a deserved 2-2 draw. Another 5-10 minutes and we would probably have won.
It was a very high quality game, one which would have graced a higher level. I think that finishing the better team will give us a psychological advantage. The 2-0 win over a good Flyers side last week will further increase confidence, as will our good level of fitness. Both the Sirens and Flyers visibly tired as the game wore on. Last week the Sirens drew 0-0 at Reading, hitting the post twice, but we know how hard it is to score against the Royals. This will be an intriguing tactical battle and it will be interesting to see our starting formation. The Chairgirls know that wins in the next two games will put them in a very strong position for the title.
The venue looks like a caged 3G pitch, without seating if anyone is travelling down. The Sirens normally play at Solent University’s Test Park, on grass I think. £5 Adults, £3 Concessions, U18s free.
The match will be dedicated to Linda Hale who recently passed away. She was one of their pioneering players in the 1970s, during their multiple FA Cup wins, and an England international.

4’, Melton shot into the keeper’s arms. Playing the usual 4-3-3.
Interesting venue. Not sure what the ground requirements are at this level, seems surprising there doesn’t even need to be benches for the subs.
Kayla injured, think she is being replaced. Big blow.
Yes, Wardlaw on, Watkins switches to left wing.
Figners crossed nothing too serious.
26’, Watkins cross from right bounces on top of bar.
28’, chance for Sirens but mishits shot.
30’ Sirens shot over the bar.
40+6, good shout for pen as one of our players is flattened. Waved away.
HT 0-0. Cagey match, we were on top first 20 but Sirens came into it more. They are not playing with the same intensity as the first match. Neither keeper seriously tested yet. Match is there to be won if we up our game.
49’, Radbourne safely parries a long range shot.
54’, Hennessy, at the far post, just puts the ball over the bar from a Wardlaw corner.
58’, Carolan replaced by Emma Delves.
61’, Wardlaw replaced by Kimble.
65’, Sirens free kick tipped onto bar by Radbourne and cleared.
2 half decent teams cancelling each other out
83’, Melton shoots wide from good position on the left.
