Brilliant reporting Steve, quicker than the clubs Twitter.
Gutted for the team after such a strong showing.
Thanks @StevePeart for the updates. No shame at all for the Chairgirls.
I really feel for Sophie Harvey, before the pens I made her our POTM, she put in a great shift at right back, possibly the best I have seen her play. It was a great performance by the Chairgirls but the Bridgwater keeper and defence were outstanding. At least we know we would be comfortable at tier 4 level.
Attendance looked close to 200.
Really tough to go out on pens. But another good display against a higher level team.
A good showing from our girls, you could see in passages of play the quality of the league above and one of the better teams too. Wycombe more than held their own. The Bridgwater keeper was excellent, pulling off a worldie save just before halftime and then a good stop in the shootout.
Sadly, you could tell that the last penalty taker wasn’t confident from her body language, but it was still an excellent effort from every one of them.
I can only see the positives. We have got to the First Round for the first time in 19 years and won £8500 in prize money. We have beaten, and gone toe to toe, with two tier 4 teams. Those two matches gave invaluable experience to the younger players. We are still in four cups, all of which we can win, and we are on course to win the league, our most important aim. New supporters attended today, some will no doubt be back. The future is bright!
Really feel for Sophie Harvey today missing the last penalty. She was excellent throughout the 90 minutes & played with such heart and commitment. What football’s all about!
Post-match interview with the Bridgwater Head Coach Steve Perkins. He praised saves by both of our keepers and said Wycombe “would compete and do well at our level”. He mentions the many chances United had, which is true, but they blazed a number of shots very high and wide. That surprised me.
Attendance yesterday was an excellent 255, considering the previous round at Adams Park was 252.
It should have been 256 Steve. I had a ticket but was unfortunately unable to go. Sounds as if it was a tremendous performance, and I’m sorry that I missed it.
It was a good performance Peter, they just came up against a very good defence. Their central defender Jade Radburn was particularly good, 36 years old now but with tier 1 experience, I believe.
I’ve praised Sophie Harvey’s performance, time to recognise Bobby’s excellent contribution yesterday.
I couldn’t make this one, but not long to wait until the next home game this weekend. It’s a week of cup football with the men on Tuesday and Saturday, and the women on Sunday.
Academy the following Tuesday. It’s hard to keep up, following three teams!
Yeah but you do your damn best. I try and help out every now and again
Very proud of our ladies. Punching well above their weight! Onwards and upwards!
Some videos from Sunday.
Laura Hennessy’s goal against Bridgwater. Kayla cuts back to Jess, whose shot is parried into the path of Laura to shoot home.

Their goalie, Charlotte Johnson, made a great save from Anisha Hill.
