We had plenty of the ball after the break, especially the third quarter, but I don’t think we troubled their keeper second half. Rovers’ defence is very good, their no. 2, the captain, in particular We missed Jess, and perhaps Mimi’s forceful play up the pitch.
Apart from playing at Adams Pafk, what should W3 and WWF be doing to try and increase attendances?
Alan, W3, and women’s football in general, need their own set of dedicated fans who don’t go to the men’s matches. It’s too time consuming supporting two teams. WWF is a pathway club, it would be good to see some of the younger players there with their families, but I appreciate that, having given up their Saturday morning to a match or training, families want time together on a Sunday.
Attendances for league games will be higher at Adams Park, maybe another 100 home fans on average, and maybe more away fans because it is a bigger draw than Burnham, but it depends on who we are playing. There were very few Bristol Rovers fans there today, apart from family and friends, but the SW division includes teams who are really SE clubs. Had we been in the SE division then we would have higher gates because of more attractive fixtures, and more away fans.
Women’s football does not appear to be self-sustaining outside of the WSL, it is a problem without an easy answer, it seems.
Talking of Adams Park, I haven’t heard if we can play games there this season, and how many. I will be disappointed if it’s not more than three.

You know, they’ve got nine points on the board, they’ve had a really good start to National League life, and, you know, for us we just wanted to make sure that we’re going to put a good kind of presence of how physical the league is, you know, and I think they had it easy with them in the first three games, so I’m glad that we’ve come here and given them a good performance and showed them what, you know, the level is like and the standard, you know, that should be for the top half, so good performance from us”.
