Match Thread: W3 vs Torquay, 16th Aug 2026

58’, ref thought hard about giving a pen to Torquay, nothing given.

59’, long Lynch free kick tipped over.

61’, Dolder 35 yarder well saved, followed by a dangerous Torquay cross whizzing through the six yard box.

64’, Harvey heads off the line from a corner.

72’, goal, 1-0! 40 yard wonder strike from Arnott into the far corner. I thought ref was about to blow up for a Makowska head injury.

Wardlaw on for Dolder.

77’, good chance for Torquay, screwed wide.

Mulvaney on for Harvey, Kassem on for Hodges.

79", Wardlaw shoots over.

Arnott replaced by Carpenter.

85’, great dribble by Jess down the left wing, delivers perfect cross into six yard box but nobody gets to it.

Jess with another shot saved.

FT WW 1-0 TU, a really hard fought victory, and deserved.

Attendance today was 54. Interesting to hear one of the Torquay players say none of them live in Torquay, most live in Plymouth and Exeter.

Such an important win. A win is worth so much more in a division of 22 games.

Big win for Gwalia against Ascot, 6-0

Well done W3. Some tough trips to the south west so win your home games and all that.

Ascot have lost key players to us and Maidenhead, they have a new manager as well. I have always thought that Gwalia would be up there, they were relegated only on goals scored, they had the same points and goal diff as Wimbledon. Moneyfields are the firm favourites.

This sounds illogical as it’s the same for all teams. What I meant to say is that I am only concentrating on getting enough points to stay up!

That league table doesn’t look right, Moneyfields and Maidenhead have only played one game. The FA full-time site is not showing anything for the National Leagues, the new site has results and scorers, but not line-ups it seems.

I thought all the new players looked good, in fact everyone had a good game. I was impressed with the subs, they all made a big contribution in keeping control of the game and taking the game to Torquay. We have real strength in depth now. I usually don’t like to single out a player but I will, I thought Jess was fantastic on the wing. She reminds me of Dave Carroll, for the older fans. If you give her the ball, you can relax, only good will come of it.

I was particularly impressed with the two new centre mids (and thought that before the goal). In the big games last season, I thought that was our weakest unit, so I’m pleased to see that’s been addressed.

Brilliant to get a win at the first time of asking!

Fantastic result. Long may it continue and here’s to a successful season.

Hopefully the OG will open a well deserved line of finance.
