Match Thread: Woodley United vs W3, 29th Mar 2026

Sitting equal bottom with Badshot Lea, on four points with better goal difference of two, the Kestrels recorded their first win last month with a fine 2-1 victory at Oxford City. Prior to that, a draw with Badshot Lea in October was their only point. Form has been improving recently but they had a major setback two weeks ago, losing 12-1 at the Flyers in the league. Last week they lost 3-1 at home to Oxford City in the Chairman’s Cup.

The Chairgirls beat Woodley 6-1 at Burnham in November in the reverse fixture, with goals from Watkins (3), Potter(2) and Hill. The game will be played on a roped off grass pitch. From a photo I saw of their match against Fleet four weeks ago, the University of Reading pitches at Bulmershe look in good condition, despite the wet winter.

Our two nearest challengers have tricky games, the Flyers at Southampton Women on that caged 3G pitch, and Portchester at Beaconsfield, the only team to beat them in the league.

Has there been any word on Potter’s injury? Assume that’s what is keeping her out today. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Not heard anything, will try and find out.

HT WU 0-3 WW, comfortable so far, the driving wind and rain, and a bobby pitch, could be a leveller, but we are in complete control. The new formation is working well, three at back, two wing backs and two strikers. When the cross comes in, there is usually one more player waiting in the box.

Another tier 5 ground not conforming to requirements, no dugouts or spectator shelter.

Surprised our team don’t use the yellow kit for greater contrast and visibility especially for those watching from home :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This would be the struggle if the team wanted to play closer to Wycombe. So many clubs struggle with postponements during the winter, I can’t see Flackwell, Homer Green or Penn wanting any more games at their grounds if we wanted somewhere nearer to play. Other than Adams Park, not sure where else closer would work.
