Matt Bloomfield Managerial Megathread

For fuck’s sake. Why do you take so much delight in making snide comments about someone who gave their all for the club that you supposedly support?

For anyone else who’s hard of thinking, that was one item on an extremely long list of little things Rice did to make his position untenable.

He’s not in charge today, not even in MK by all accounts.

Hats off to him for willing to take on another sinking ship. Looks like he needs to pick up at least 26 points from 21 games, possibly more to be safe.

Can’t stand Oxford but I’d want Matt to succeed wherever he was as long as it doesn’t affect us.

3 ex Wycombe players at Oxford too.

Lighten up man, it was just a bit of fun. Not everything needs to be so dramatic. Usually I’d wish him well as I grew up watching MB as an icon in blue. But, I can’t celebrate any of the PNL’s successes, so I hope he takes them down.

Most people who play (and have played) for Wycombe are limited in some way. That’s why they’re playing for Wycombe.

Again, absolutely weird that you would single out the longest serving one of them for sniffy comments.

Imagine being a Wycombe fan and also being mean about Matt Bloomfield

Some weird folk about

He hasn’t been singled out. The conversation is around his appointment as Oxford manager which has brought about wider discussion.

I mean, I don’t suddenly want Oxford to do well, nor did I want Luton to do well, and I certainly didn’t want Col U to do well

But I still love Blooms

I can only assume this type of pithy relativism helps to rationalise feelings of hurt, resentment, and perceived betrayal. I guess it works as an emotional coping mechanism but it’s objectively ridiculous to describe a professional footballer that’s played hundreds of EFL games across three tiers as little more than a water boy who only did so because no one else wanted them, rather than seeing the mutual benefit the club and individual benefited from as a result of this loyalty to one another.

It’s even more bonkers when this person represented the team you support and captained them to its greatest triumph. But hey ho, the human mind works in mysterious ways and FML I’ve bitten again.

Same as those booing an ex player or hurling abuse at them. Happens.

Here’s a thought. Why not wish the bloke all the best? We’re not even in the same league as Oxford.

He had a long career here, gave his all, took some whacks that forced him to retire and eventually took us to the top of league one alongside two moneybags teams.

‘But yeah, I think the most important point I can make here today is that he was a very limited player’.

The state of that thought process.

A bit like Matt Le Tissier

Great example as he chose to stay at Southampton despite lots of interest. Will never know if Bloomfield would have done the same if opportunity came knocking.

Matt Bloomfield made the very best of the talents he had. Not many players can say that.

Good to see him happy after so long.

During his playing career six managers chose to keep him here as an asset to the club, on and off the pitch.

We were lucky to sign him and he was lucky to find a permanent home.

Not sure why some people chose to find the negatives.

@Chairboys80 I apologise for my message early. I shouldn’t insult anyone and I am sorry
