Matt Bloomfield Managerial Megathread

Dodds always seemed like a decent bloke. If this is a permanent appointment, no reason not to be pleased for him and wish him well too.

Clearly a very talented guy who knows what he is talking about, not convinced he is ready to be a first team head coach. Hopefully he will find a job more suited to his abilities.

And hopefully we bring in an experienced manager.“

very pleased for Mike Dodds. I met him and chatted to him when he was our manager and he was a really really nice bloke who you could tell was desperate for the team to succeed

its a bit annoying that he’s at Oxford with Matt Bloomfield, undoubtedly one of the best blokes in football and indeed outside of football. Still, these are the cards you are dealt as a football fan.

Then, as i said, you must have been a lone voice in a sea of negativity. I dont recall many thinking of him as a brilliant coach by the time he left.

OUFC have now removed the Dodds pic from the gallery. So here’s your souvenir.

Quite clearly he was a very poor Head Coach at Wycombe. I think that’s what most people thought by the end.

It was clear to see that the people running the show above him did a rather cowardly disappearing act when things weren’t going well. Bearing in mind he was not the manager.

He was a poor head coach. But, he was criticised for many many things, especially his coaching ability. Many said he didnt improve one player, some said he only got where he was due to Bellingham. Some said he couldn’t coach kids teams. A lot just said he should stick to youth coaching.

He was obviously a regarded coach, thats how he got the job in the first place. He didnt come out of his time with us with any credit. I applaud those that did stick up for him, i just recall that to be a very small number of people.

Almost choked on my gum when I saw that

He’s put a word in for Alan Smith over at Slough too

Think I’m right in saying that Duff has commented on more than one occasion that he inherited a well coached team and hasn’t had to change a lot in that sense.

Reaction to the Dodds appointment from the PNL forum, have to say that I’d like to hear that conversation too, not that it’d ever happen.

If it’s not immediately obvious from the context, replace the first part with “Saying (Dodds) is a crap manager…”

If Oxfords football in the next six months is the same as Matt Bloomfields and Mike Dodds first six months at Wycombe I might for the first time in my life feel sorry for the Oxford fans.

Will make next seasons “local derby” interesting if in the same league and football being football MB and staff are still at Oxford by then.

Since January 2025 someone saw these two guys in there latest jobs, and thought. Dreamteam.
