He may well have. And maybe people have softened to Dodds as a coach. But, not many said, that our team looks too well coached during his time here.
Is it possible for Oxford to drop two divisions in one relegation?
Anybody who put money on Sheffield Wednesday finishing bottom of the table must be shitting themselves
This is extremely funny.
what the hell, Bacon Gumballsā¦
I like Bacon but what the hell
I have commented at length about Mike Doddsā appointment on the Wycombe Wanderers Friends Facebook page, run by my old mate, Dave Gardner, formerly on the Gasroom as @davieboy.
Iām too exhausted to repeat it on here but, essentially, Iām very much in agreement with @chris and @eric_plant about the nature of the guy and the fundamental distinction between Assistant Head Coach and Manager (sorry, Head Coach if I must).
I think both are good men and probably good coaches. I suspect they will do well although not convinced they will stay up ā¦.
I think the press conferences will be akin to watching paint dry.
Anyone else going a little crosseyed reading the same content in two different threads? I keep hoping itās going to be like a magic eye picture and suddenly a three dimensional striker will appear.
to be fair thatās my fault
If Dodds takes over from Blooms then all 3 stands will be nodding off.
well most of the three stands, the away end will be buzzing
Sorry mate. My fault (as usual).
Blooms has a bit of the farting around with backwards passing about him as well. I think a lot of people have forgotten how shit some of him early days were - before Kone, Morley and Cameron sorted everything out for him.
I think between them they will produce the dullest side ever to be relegated from the championship.
Liked for the LOL rather than the Bloomy slander.
Is there not a chance this all goes horribly well for them and weāre left with even more feelings of ennui.
Maybe. Bloomfield was starting to find his feet as Head Coach with us, and since has had further practical experience at Luāun.
Dodds was highly rated as a coach (as opposed to #1 in charge) at Sunderland.
It could work.
If you are defining going āhorribly wellā as staying up, then a shot at promotion next season, Iād really struggle to see that just because of the raging resource inequality in the 2nd tier.
But if your definition of success for OUFC is giving it their best shot this season, but still going down - yet getting promoted again next season, I would say thatās possible.
OUFC sides are typically at least competitive in the third tier.
Yep but there are far more demands upon a head coach / manager than just the work in training. Dodds pedigree working with players has always been known. Maybe you could argue it wasnāt as noticeable with us, but even still Duff commented on it when it would have been easy not to. Dare I suggest some semblance to Richard Dobson who was/is a magnificent number 2 but has a pretty poor record in his limited opportunities when in charge on a matchday.
Doddsy may have a weird effect where he can turn a promotion campaign to turd but also turn a relegation battle into the gold of safety.
Chances are that Bloomy just repeats the Luton relegation and is under huge pressure by autumn in league 1 next season if in midtable but will be an interesting watch when our season fizzles out to about 10-12th place by March.
You certainly hold a grudge ![]()
The downside of Oxford being relegated is that it confirms the difficulty for small(er) clubs to stay in the Championship. Oxford are a pretty well funded club. I personally would like both clubs to be established at that level.
