Gaz had to get a job at an awful Shrewsbury and then league 2. The Qpr job killed his reputation. Which was always a bit impacted by his style anyway.
Wonder if heās gonna head down Gils for a bit.
Very predictable.
Colchester are struggling (although won 6-2 at the weekend). Seems like an obvious next destination.
Shame for him that they didnāt manage to stay up last year.
Was always going to be hard for him this season, with expectations so high and from the outside the club still looking to be in a difficult place.
Will be interesting to see where he ends up next, if itās not Reading. Hope heās back somewhere soon (if thatās what he wants).
Sad reminder of just how different things looked for him and us at the start of the 2025.
At least heās got a very good pay off, so he can take his time looking for his next job.
I think the QPR debacle did hurt Gaz, but he certainly had more credit in the bank.
Itāll be a harder road back for Blooms.
This exact time last year (well yesterday the 5th Oct) was the first game of that magnificent 8 games on the bounce wins in the league under Blooms. And today he is sacked from Luton town.
What a difference a year makes!
Am I right in thinking Blooms did some youth coaching with Ipswich while he was getting his badges? Might be a route back into football there.
Seems very harsh. Whilst not setting the world alight yet, theyāre not doing horrendously.
Cardiff doing ok but Plymouth struggling as well after coming down.
Theyāve lost to Bradford, Cardiff, Plymouth, Lincoln and Stevenage in the league - four of the current top 5.
Iām sure it will vary, but I think the norm for EFL is that they continue to be paid for the duration of their contract, or until they take another job.
I wonder if somewhere like Peterborough would be a good fit. Near-ish to home, things have obviously gone stale there, theyāre not hopelessly adrift, they like developing young players, passing football etc.
Oh and itās the international break and Blooms is now availableā¦
A sorry affair all round. I hope he bounces back.
But he went there because he was going somewhere where he was wanted. ![]()

They were in the Prem 16 months ago.
Massive new stadium being built, decent sized fan base. They need to be back in the Champ next season and I think rightly so the fans wanted him out.
What happened to all that love that they made him feel when he joined?
Yeh. Whatever your opinions on everything that happened, the last twelve months have been a huge waste for Wycombe Wanderers and Matt Bloomfield.
Itās very sad.
As soon as I read that he had a luncheon date with Gareth Southgate he was doomed.
Matt Bloomfield arguably the biggest loser in the behind scenes nonsense at Wycombe. Iām absolutely gutted for him.
Meanwhile moronic sections of our fanbase still continued to sing anti-Bloomfield songs on Saturday for reasons only known to themselves.
Not a good day for ex wycombe players in management.
In Jan 2025, even the bleakest of gasroom drones wouldnāt have said that in just 9 months weād have managed to boot the manager doing great things out, utterly carve up the whole squad, and bring in a johnnysh!ttone of random tippy tappy high priced players.
Itād be like today predicting that in 9-12 months time weāre at the bottom of league 2, with the mateyboys running the club having disappeared, all the high priced players sent away for free, with the next spivs in, and ransacking Maidenhead United to fill our squad.
will no doubt end up at Readingā¦
