What have luton spen in comparison to us out of interest? I know they can’t be comparable insights… just curious
I am gracefully done expressing my view,I have said what I think. If I engage any further the ‘hijacker’ and ‘egocentric’ comments will be incoming , ‘troll’ has already just surfaced and this is my cue to retire for the evening
Over and out.
That doesn’t really answer the question
Considerably less. They’ve really been shopping in the bargain basket.
OK I will answer your question and then I am done. It was actually the Friday when we won at home. He was fist pumping the terrace after the match and slapping the Wycombe badge on his top.He was soaking up “there is only one Matt Bloomfield” and during that week he had said publically how much he loved the club and how he was “flattered by the Luton interest” , but was “only concerned in doing the job he had with us” . Then he was gone.
I am now retiring . Goodnight to you Sir.
I’m the hero of the Gasroom!
No thanks necessary everyone
Chucking big money at a squad is often not the answer… our big money spends have hardly set the world alight as of yet…. Its about savvy recruitment and clever purchases… we have been so good at clever transfer dealings until the new regime…..
Newcastle were joked about for bringing in Woltermade as an issak replacement… who’s laughing now!?
I don’t have a “big team” or premier league team….. I just support Wycombe…. But I do have a soft spot for Newcastle. Prob one of the richest owners in the world but persist in clever spending over spending for spendings sake . Love Eddie Howe… think he’s an exceptional younger manager and their fan base is second to none.
.
Yep, home to Portsmouth in the cup on a mightily cold Friday night!
I’m with you on this one James. Football is a brutal business but I absolutely wish Matt all the best.
Just a minor niggle though, virtually his first act as Luton boss was to put a bid in for our best player! That was also a reminder that football is a brutal, ruthless business. But to be clear, I’d never boo him, even if he did turn up managing Reading!
Amazing how many posts start with a “no-one wants to go through all this again” type comment, before the rest of the post… well… goes through all this again.
Was going to say this.
Russ Martin and Mike Williamson, then Bloomfield. Plus an operation for GA.
Have we been cursed?
Im sure some posters I.e one who’s name is the title of a film followed by “and the giant peach” believe Dan Rice is on this forum and has the power to find out who posts. Christ almighty I’ve never known someone to be so incredibly supportive of a bloke who has fucked up every single thing he’s done at our club.
We seem to be reversing straight back into the exact argument that finished Gasroom 2. Shame people can’t just let it go and focus on the new Michael Duff era.
They paid over a million for Jerry Yates, so that’s not strictly true.
they spent over a million on Josh Keeley too, so the plucky Luton narrative doesn’t really stack up
I wonder if Mike Dodds will be applying for the Luton job?
Why not? There’s always far fewer league management jobs available than there are out-of-work (or wannabe debutant) managers.
I don’t really know what aspect of MD’s managerial CV would stand out to a potential employer though.
I feel like the Sunderland fans had it right when they said that he’s not a natural manager or head coach - talented coach quite possibly, but that can be a different skill set.
Really sad that Bloomfield has lost his job but with the run of results and the hierarchy at Luton wanting an immediate return to the Championship, it was inevitable. Bloomfield is a young up and coming manager who I’m convinced will be a success in the future but he is long way from the finished article .
It is entirely reasonable to laud MB as a legend for his contribution as a player/coach/manager but also be unhappy with the manner in which he left the club.
I may have missed if someone suggested he should be actively booed on this thread. That is obviously wrong. I would imagine that if he was, and I don’t see how he could be anytime soon(?) then it would be largely directed from the unbearable school kids at the back of the terrace. Those who probably barely attended a game he played in, let alone acknowledge his wider contribution. They are a loud minority and quite clearly don’t reflect the views of the average Wycombe fan.
Legend as a player but sorry not as a manager. You have to earn legend status over a period of time.
Legend as a person
