I’m beginning to even bore myself with my moaning at this situation and know it is not productive especially now Dodds is unlikely to be sacked in the short term. So I thought I’d focus on what should be done now.
I really do think Dodds needs to sit in a room alone and watch all our games in October and November. It was a fantastic run for this club and we played with immense confidence. However these performances were certainly not perfect. He needs to focus on what we did so well in these games. One big thing for me was how well Bloomfield used the squad especially in forward areas, something Dodds hasn’t done.
With that in mind I think he needs to be looking to rotate four of the following in forward areas: Kone, Udoh, Humphreys, Onyedinma, McCleary, Sadlier, Berry, Lowry, Lubala. The starters should get 60-65 minutes and then the finishers. Have real plans for the finishers too. That’s one of the things that made it.
There needs to be much more positive attitude in terms of tactical thinking. Five at the back needs to go. That probably means benching Bradley but so be it. With Scowen out I think you potentially have Reach alongside Simons. I’d also consider using Pattenden at right back for the first hour too. I wonder if there is any chance of Harvie being fit for the play-offs, even half fit he might be worth taking a risk on.
