“We’re delighted to be expanding the network of local matchday bus services with the introduction of three new routes which will provide fans from Aylesbury, Thame and Maidenhead – plus all stops on the way – with a direct service to Adams Park. Full details will be provided closer to the season. We’re also close to finalising a new park and ride service from Cressex, and we’re implementing a new traffic management plan along Hillbottom Road to speed up the departure of vehicles after games whilst continuing to ensure the safety of pedestrians.” - from the club today.
Bus News:
Services
WW1: Normal Wycombe Rail Station to AP
New Services:
WW2: Aylesbury to Adams Park Via A4010 (Little Kimble - West Wycombe) (Similar to Red Rose 130 Service)
WW3: Thame to Adams Park Via Chinnor and Lewknor and Stokenchurch
WW4: Maidenhead Rail Station to AP Via Marlow and Booker
I think that would be a fantastic idea. With all the money they are spending elsewhere, paying for all the busses due to run the new match day special service to be wrapped in WWFC livery would be a nice touch - and if used in normal service through the week would be excellent advertising.
The ownership group appear to be trying to grow the club throughout Bucks and the surrounding towns and villages that border the county.
It’s been crying out for this outlook and iniatives. We need to develop as not only Wycombe’s team but Bucks premier sporting club, who people can attach themselves to.
These chaps seem to be doers, rather than looking for cheap sound bites.
This is a great idea and hope they get well used. Also more advertising in Aylesbury to get people interested in Wycombe as their footballing destination.
Aylesbury is a battle ground that Wycombe should be making the most out of. With Luton, MK & Watford all within a bus journey away from there, lets make the town our’s!
However, I’m surprised that the club hasn’t worked with Chiltern Railways to get branding on the trains and/or a special service between Wycombe & Aylesbury on matchdays?
From some accounts online and by the looks of the queue this is also a bit of a work in progress, no signage and no drivers / staff straight after the match apparently made it a bit of a mess on the way back.
Kind of hoped they might also link up with the tube in Amersham but prioritising areas where the locals can’t easily go into support all the Prem clubs makes some sense.
‘Bit of a work in progress’? Better described as an absolute shambles! Four identical red buses await the departing hordes in Hillbottom Road. Each red bus locked, driverless and unmarked. Hordes form an orderly queue opposite the entrance to the bus furthest from AP. A 15 minutes or so wait until a Carousel representative arrives to inform all that the WW1 bus to Wycombe Bus/Train Station is in fact the one nearest AP. “So the last will be first, and the first will be last” (Matthew 20:16).
100%. It was a shambles as you say. Standing in line, and then for some unbeknown reason, when they finally started to fire them up, they loaded from the back bus. No one knew where any of them was going either as the lady behind me was going to Aylesbury.
I emailed the club about this one the other day as I couldn’t see a way to order the Holiday Inn P&R option online. They said it’s unlikely to run for the Bolton fixture and suggested I use Millbrook School instead. Hopefully they bring it back in future as it’s ideal for those of us coming off the M40, with young kids who don’t fancy the walk!
