The reply thing is bothering me too. I open the replies to a post so I can see what someone has said in relation to it. However, it then comes up again further down the thread. So I end up reading many posts twice.
Is there any way the website can be altered such that the replies ONLY come up under the original post, and not later in the thread? But also, rather than pressing the down arrow to see the replies, they are automatically visible under the original post (in a slightly separate form)?
Possibly in the future, once we move to an entirely self-hosted solution of Discourse. Will update if its possible.

Thanks to everyone who has subscribed so far. We have just moved over the 30 mark, which will be vital in helping us cover the running costs.
The ads for Trainline are low value affiliate placeholders, until we can get proper ad connections set-up, sorry if they are repetitive and annoying.
I like the thumbs downs option. Gives an idea of how the gasroom are thinking about an issue.

Would it be possible to have the latest messages at the top of the thread rather than the bottom?

In a perfect (forum) world, I agree, and it has a viable purpose.
But it’s not a perfect (forum) world, it’s the internet and I can see it mis-used as a subtle form of anonymous bullying.

The amount of drama and ill-feeling about downvoting on the last iteration has really put us off enabling it.
I suppose it’s possible people would use it more conservatively, now their username is attached to a thumb up/down.
But I’d rather users respond with a reasoned post, instead of just smashing a thumb down button.

I never cared about thumbs down, but many others got quite stressed out about it, so probably for the best.
Not keen on this idea. It’s one of the most annoying ‘features’ of social media.

What is annoying about it.? … saves a lot of scrolling.
I prefer to read what people have posted in the order it’s been posted, as opposed to seeing the latest post stripped of context that I have to scroll down to see.

Anyone know where to find the ‘season attendance league table’ without typing it into the search box?
I also find there just being three topics per category strange . It took me a while to work out that the number in the bottom left linked to other topics within the category and needed checking on.
I kind of feel that I shouldn’t be seeing “Go Ad-Free
Become a Gasroom subscriber for an ad-free experience.” when I have, in fact, subscribed. It’s a quibble though - great job for the most part!
I’m not seeing that and I have subscribed. Perhaps worth pursuing with the gasroom gurus.
I was getting that after subscribing but I closed it and haven’t seen it since.
It should disappear for subscribers after they’ve closed it once.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?
I don’t know if this is just an issue on Android phones running Chrome but the privacy box now covers the bottom right hand of the text box when writing a post, making it impossible to see the last few words typed if you get to the bottom of the box. There’s no way of scrolling the page up so the text box moves higher on the screen. If it’s possible to fix that’d be great.
