He hasn’t got his badges though. This appears to rule him out?
Just out of interest ,what happens if he comes back and proves to be the 2023-23 Matt Bloomfield, rather then the 2024-25 version.
Are you comfortable with fans demanding his sacking after Chrismas, because it happened before?
If any manager is doing a bad job I am comfortable with those calling for sacking.
The average age of managers in the premier league this season apparently is 46/47 which is quite sobering, as like the other poster, i’d have probably put 40-46 in the “young” manager boat.
MON for a totally unrelated comparison was 43 when he left Wycombe.
We’ve had two wins on the trot now, but not necessarily better performances in my opinion. The upward trend will continue over the next several weeks simply because we are playing generally lower quality teams and we now have a quality striker. So, I think it’s likely we’ll have played something like 13 games and have 17-20 points. A natural improvement and I’m pretty sure that we would’ve been at least the same and likely better off if we had we kept Michael Duff.
The issue is though with that improvement, the permanent appointment of TH will be ‘justified’ in the mind of the OG (I think it is already permanent effectively, and TH only needs to be enrolled in required courses to continue in situ).
But what next as we likely limp towards a mid table finish, does TH have the skill/experience to get this team to the top of the table, where we want to be? For me, that’s pretty unlikely so when do we decide to try someone else, end of the season? Or give him some games next season, and lose another season to transition?
We have spent a lot of money on an experienced set of talented players. We need an experienced and talented manager to guide them as well, which we don’t have now and we are quite obviously not looking for. It’s a big worry.
PS - I have nothing against TH, he seems an articulate and intelligent gentleman, but the fact is he just doesn’t have the experience to show he is capable of leading the team to the top of League 1. It could pay off, there are no certainties in life, but it is another big risk.
Perhaps the candidates aren’t available right now, we might be waiting for the inevitable sackings.
Frank Lampard maybe ?
Had Duff lost the dressing room though?
TH is 30/31, he seems to have been successful up to this point. The players seem to respect him, he interviews well and he already seems to have a number 2 in the building. If we see a good improvement over the next 2/3 months then I would have no issue him getting the job.
Would you say at 20/21 you dont have enough experience to be a successful journalist?
it’s not young but it’s not old
Not sure why you’re asking about being a successful journalist at 20/21. I am a 45 year old that works in the pharmaceutical industry! I have nothing to do with the Quartermen website…
Anyone 59 or below is young in my book.
Never had you down as a drug dealer.
Tell it to the judge
Well, now you know!
I know its all a bit cliché but, it looks likely, that players didnt really fancy ut with him anymore.
I dont think we win at Orient under Duff for a start. Probably do vs Chelsea Yoofs though.
Regarding a new head coach, they dont need to rush. I think they also want to see about the squad.
So much has been made of new unity or togetherness etc. I think its clear something wasnt right. Even the return of Leahy, and his comments indicate it.
I think the route Hounsell has taken to get to where he is without having been a professional player etc. may well indicate what a very good prospect he is. I’m sure he’s had to go over and above to prove his ability not taking a traditional route, and being that he is only 31, indicates that he must be a strong character, respected and highly capable. Good luck to him, I genuinely hope he’s going to be brilliant and I suspect he will be.
That’s confusing!
I presumed you were the same, I still think Tom should be given a chance.
