Wasn’t that our Kev on Bean?
Just getting some art on the bloody thing would be a start. Really not hard.
Obviously waiting until Tom wins the award and then replace him with a random bloke off the street
I don’t get it.
Rice being described as “interim chairman” clearly feels like he was always intended to be the permanent chairman, with “interim” simply being a temporary title.
And Hounsell being called an “interim manager” looks no different. He’s our manager, so why speculate about replacing him?
Hounsell has already brought in another Fulham Under-21s coach as his assistant. That surely tells you a lot. If he genuinely were only an interim appointment, why would the club give him his own assistant and allow him enough time in the job to be nominated for Manager of the Month?
It feels like we already have our man. All that’s really left is for the club to remove the word “interim” from his title.
I just think he was giving a trial. That trial should be longer than 3 league games though.
If he carrys on perirming, thats all good, let him stay.
Maybe they have someone lined up who is under contract.
Could be many reasons. But, if we carry on getting results, not sure it matters.
Don’t worry, the Art is coming..
We didn’t get a lot of communication from the Trust!
That would full under the “polishing a turd” banner.
I was routinely told I was wrong back before the season started that the club needed to actually get out some coms in regards to the short medium and long term plans to get the terrace back to full capacity, and we’re now in October and nothings happened since the day before the season opened.
Get ready for it to have its capacity reduced further or be closed completely before the start of next season.
Yeah, it’s great. You can’t watch the team you’ve supported for 50 years from behind either goal (where I’ve been stood apart from the occasional dash to the cow shed if the rain got too heavy). But the fans don’t matter to the OG.
I wouldn’t say that completely.
There absolutely are some excellent things they have done - mostly aimed towards the younger supporters with cheap season tickets, free shirts, kid a quid days.
But I do think the lack of plan around the terrace is either a bit of an own goal, or a deliberate strategy. A strategy one could only guess the reasons.
Didn’t see it at all like that at first but it very much looks that way now.
Though I wouldn’t put it past the original gangsters to let him win a load more games THEN go with someone else.
TH’s results do mean he has every right to stake a claim, even if it’s not even a purple stain yet.
My concern is that results tend to regress to the mean of performances, and Wareham aside, we have not really looked any better than under Duff, especially considering the level of opposition. Most of all, we are still awful at defending.
That being said, if we can finally beat Luton at home, I would cosign on Hounsell being carried around on a victory chair specifically made by Bodger himself.
I haven’t watched Luton much so don’t know whether Wilshere prefers the noveau style. If he does and we see two teams playing walking football at the back, before aimless kicks into touch, then both ends of the ground will be howling.
I am surprised we’re going out the other side of the international break without a new appointment at Head Coach as it seemed like a good opportunity for a new person to come in, meet the squad and get some initial tactical ideas across.
That being said, I think Tom has probably used this time well and hopefully we’ll see this in tomorrow’s fixture against Luton. Haven’t been overly impressed with the games so far from a tactical standpoint, but you can’t knock the winning record and he’ll have my support tomorrow. Luton is always a historically tricky fixture for us and we always come up against strong squads, expecting tomorrow to be no different.
Win or lose I cannot understand how an ownership team willing to spend tens of millions on a new training ground, academy, everything else… not least £1m plus on a new striker… would then go for the cheapest option possible as head coach rather than someone who a) has the qualifications b) has the experience as a player c) has the cache as a big name to be our head coach. It’s not like it’s them or Tom Hounsell… he’ll still be employed by the club and able to contribute all his good ideas as coach.
I still assume they’re being as ambitious as they can in searching for a new head coach, taking their time and doing their homework on each candidate to make sure they don’t screw it up three times in a row. Knowing that if any of the people they have in mind don’t quite make it, they can either keep Tom H in place - or reappoint Matt Bloomfield.
I don’t mind them being thorough in this process, a lot rests on getting it right because three bad appointments in a row and the buck has to stop with Dan Rice. But I’d say a month should be long enough and they’re coming up to that period now.
I think the issue is more who is out there. Bradford went for Duff with his recent “duff” record. To be honest, I don’t see the options…
Act in haste…
I’m growing more resigned/ content (depending on which day of the week) to the fact TH is getting it full time.
It is mad that they sacked Duff without any plan in place. There’s been no reported bust up, nothing that would suggest the firing needed to be as sudden or panicked as it appears to have been.
This is the plan. Always was.
I fully agree with all that. It makes perfect sense.
So why am I expecting:
a) TH to be formally appointed if our next few results are half-decent
Or
b) A mad rush to try and find someone/anyone in a few weeks if our next few results are pretty poor
