New Signing

Joseph McCallum 18 years old signed despite interest from several Premier league sides. Looks like the a ademy is starting to pay off.

Integrated straight into the first team set up. Must be good.

Joseph McCallum signed a pro contract for Coventry at the beginning of the season, next to him is the profile of a David Mantle whom they captured from Wycombe Wanderers Under 15’s at the beginning of the season ???

Always good to see youngsters come through into the first-team squad.

It’ll remain to be seen whether Joe will get much of a look in with at least 6 established first teamers (including Josh) who’ll take some budging from a place in midfield or even from the bench, though he’ll have some excellent role models to learn from. Hopefully one for the future if opportunities aren’t immediately available.

Lets hope he is as prolific as the last, J. McCallum to play for the Wanderers.

Welcome to Wycombe.

Would like to know why Coventry have let him go just a few months after he signed a pro contract. He had been on trial with Chelsea for two months before Christmas. We have had to pay Coventry a fee.

Played some games for Chelsea U21’s at the end of last year and been training with us for two months.

I would also like to know more about his time at Coventry, did we sign him for a fee and he chose to come here because there is more opportunity to play or was there an issue that Coventry didn’t like and he was offloaded? Seems odd to have signed a pro contract in the summer and already be at another club unless it was a transfer. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can shed some light on the matter

He was attached to the Kinetic Foundation, prior to joining Coventry, so he would have been known to many of our coaching staff.

Hopefully not another Berry or Lowry!

He left Kinetic in 2023 to sign for Coventry and was on a youth contract up until July when he signed a pro contract with Coventry.

An unofficial Coventry youth twitter feed says we have paid a fee.

Seems odd he would leave so soon after signing a pro contract.

Looking forward to seeing him in the Vertu Trophy next season

That would be the perfect game to start his illustrious Wycombe career

In his interview, he gives the reason for coming to Wycombe as being the club’s desire to give youth a chance. I wonder also whether geography might have something to do with it.

Anyway, welcome, Joe. How about Jock for a nickname?

I prefer Jocky.

May he go on to match Jock’s strike rate of 224 goals in 348 games!

Excuse higorance/inadequate Wycombe Knowledge - could you remind me (and no doubt others) when and at what level ‘Jock’ played. That’s an impressive goalscoring record, perhaps second only to Bodger’s ?

Here is a rundown on Jock’s history with the football club from Chairboys on the net.

(I’ll remove my history piece on him, in deference to Gasman!)

I interviewed Jock when researching the official history, he lived close to the ground in Hillbottom Road, near the mini-roundabout with Lane End Road. He is fourth on the all-time scorers list, behind Tony Horseman (416), Paul Bates (309) and Bill Buchanan (228).

I thought the correct spelling was McCallum.
