I agree with most of the list you have written, all of it depends on where we end up and which league we’ll be in next year. (BTW, you’ve missed off Berry & Tilley who will prob still be under contract for next season I believe)

If it’s life in League 1 next season, I’d like van Sas to be given more of an opportunity as his effort for the club far out scores Norris’ and looks like he just wants to learn.

I would also like to see Skrua be given more of a chance as well. If we are going to move Taylor on, Skrua is a very adequate replacement.

I’d question if Junior will be here next season. While he’s an impact off the bench, he seems to disappear in matches when he starts and I think he’s too physically weak to play in a defensive role like a wing-back.

You say Skrua (twice) I say Skura but let’s not call the whole thing off. (You’re probably too young to recognise the tune.)

Whenever he’s played, Declan Skura has barely put a foot wrong and, to me, he just looks the part - a more complete player - in a way that, based on the limited appearances he’s made, Connor Taylor does not.

I just hope the loan agreement includes a clause enabling us to recall him. I’d like to think that the plan would be to play Taylor for two or three games - he deserves a chance to show what he can do - whilst Skura would be training with the squad and demonstrating his qualities within a group of players at a significantly higher level than the players he’s currently playing alongside.

Psychologically the match against Luton is probably one of the last games, following the heavy defeat at their place, which you would want an essentially unproven central defender to be making his first start for many months (I think that’s correct but don’t berate me if I’ve overlooked a more recent start).

For that reason, I’m having second thoughts and, assuming that Huggins is still fit and available, I’d prefer the option of moving Captain Jack inside and bringing Huggins in at right back.

I’ve a strongly vested interest in next Saturday’s performance as my son-in-law asked me about a month ago to suggest a match for him and our grandson to go to and this seemed like a good choice at the time!

I’d much rather do this too.

Same. Definitely a known quantity you can trust.

Depends what league we’re in .

Having suggested my preference for Jack Grimmer to move into the Dan Casey slot (rather than Connor Taylor) I’m starting to wonder (a) whether Niall Huggins is unavailable for some reason or just out of favour and (b) whether Michael Duff’s thinking is that Dan Casey’s replacement needs to have the same aerial dominance. That right back/right sided central defender combination is quite a conundrum.

Taylor has started 12 games and come off the bench in 10. He’s had enough game time and clearly isn’t very good. Astounded to see people say he deserves a chance.

Fink has been written off but has had only two starts.

Could there be a situation where the club has agreed to sign Huggins if he plays a certain amount of games for us and Duff has decided that he doesn’t want to sign Huggins?

However that being said, we knew that Huggins has had issues with his fitness in the past, that has prob struck again

As Mavis Riley might have said, ā€œwe really don’t knowā€.

Surely he would have been sent back in January if that was the case.

My guess is that Grimmer made himself undroppable and we didn’t want an extra defender on the bench. Surely Huggins will be on the bench Saturday if he doesn’t start.

Not if they didn’t know how serious Jack’s back was at that point. Having a broken back could have been a career ending injury

Jack Grimmer played for Wycombe on January 17, 16 days before the transfer window closed.

That superfluous ā€˜going’ in the thread title is still bugging me! Could be worse I suppose. Could be ā€˜gonna’ which always sounds like the start of a word describing a particularly nasty STD.

And, while I’m on the high horse (not a pretty sight) I seem to have been posting about the lineup against Lu’on on the Bolton thread.
