Other football

Xavier Simons has signed for Bolton. Not too bothered about that.

What I’m more concerned about is he wanted to play Championship football, and ended up back in League 1.

However, it is perfectly plausible Dodds didn’t want him.

4 year contract according to BBC - when was the last time we offered that length of contract? May have been a factor

Give it a year or two and we’ll be signing 15 year old Kazakh lads on ten year contracts

Jack Young?

We must have signed Luke Leahy on a 3yr as well as he’s still here

As long as they make no mistakes.

Germany v England U19s, 18:00 BBC Sport/iPlayer

Scheiße, the Germans look so much bigger and stronger.

What a game, England 5-1 down and it’s now 5-5.

(Edit - it won’t let me post three times consecutively)

Extraordinary game, 10 goals but none after the 63rd minute. Some seriously bad defending by both sides.

Final games on Friday at 6pm. England will hope that Germany and Norway draw, as the Dutch will be tough opponents.

(With the limit of three consecutive posts, I’ve got to use the previous post for anything new, until someone else posts on this thread - please!)

Tonight (Wednesday), it’s the turn of the U21s, England v Germany at 8pm, on Channel 4.

I’ll help you out Steve!

I watched the u-19s on iplayer. All hope looked lost shortly after half time when Germany extended their lead to 5-1 and yet seemingly within minutes we were on level terms!

The u21s play Germany tomorrow as well. Barring a mathematical disaster they’re already qualified for the semi finals but it’s a good chance to bounce back from a disappointing last game.

Playing tonight actually. 2-0 down at half time, second half about to kick off

Czechs are two up as well. That mathematical disaster is on…

Edit: no it isn’t, it’s Slovenia that would have to win…

Reading have just launched a new kit with a pattern inspired by a local biscuit company, Huntley and Palmers.

Teaser video on social media includes Rob Couhig munching on a biscuit.

Bit weird but I quite like it.

Rob must have changed his views on discounting as they’re flogging the old kit at a third of the price.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder…i think it looks terrible. But that’s why I love a forum when it works well, for people to have polar opposite views and respect the right of people to hold alternate views (shame we’ve lost some? of that on here lately). Perhaps my view will change over time, like it did with our green and white hummel shirt that I own. Loved it t first but have really gone off it recently.

I love the green one. Mainly because I had the original as a kid. I’ve since been able to get hold of the original in adult size and have just bought my son the green Hummel kit.

Looks very New Orleans-y to me

My first thought was that they looked like tyre tracks!

On the discount question I’d imagine they have a much larger operation and he can leave certain things to trained pro’s in a way he didn’t want to or couldn’t here.
Will be interesting if their staffing and outlay gets back to what it was before they were skint, or if they realise some of that was why they were skint in the first place. Wonder if they now budget for being in the championship soon, or spend what they can reasonably expect to take.

I wonder if there will be any debts that they will need to settle as Dai didn’t? I think that they’ll look to consolidate this season & maybe next to ensure they’ll bank balance grows before looking to splash and make a big push for promotion
