Will we play Southampton next season? Hmmmm

We have to actually get to the FA Cup 3rd round before thinking about that!

Watching St Pauli is a lot like watching Wycombe.

The Leeds half-time team talk, for this PL2 game yesterday, would have been interesting.

Good lord.

It clearly worked though @StevePeart, :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:, from 9-0 over 45 to (only) 4-1.

Thwaites must be miffed with an 11 minute hat trick to be only the second best striker in rhe first half

I am guessing it was “Let’s keep this under 18”?

Let’s leave …no. I won’t finish the joke.

Can’t be many players af that level that have got a double hat trick before half time

Ted MacDougall scored five first half goals for Bournemouth against Margate in the FA Cup in 1971, and went on to score nine in the 11-0 win.

Archie Thompson’s eight before half-time, in Australia’s Oceania qualifying match for the 2002 World Cup, would take some beating. His 13 goals in the game is an international record, and also “equalled the world record for most goals scored in a recognised senior match, set in 1885 when John Petrie scored 13 goals in Arbroath’s 36–0 win over Bon Accord in a Scottish FA Cup match” (Wiki) .

20 miles away, on the same day, Dundee Harp won 35-0.

Odd.

Dean Lewington has announced he’ll retire at the end of the season after 20 years and over 900 games for the Franchise. Would probably be worthy of a hats off if it wasn’t a) Dean Lewington and b) Franchise.

Hats off from me anyway. We had a chap play 557 times for us and still called Judas by some, so it’s not like loyalty at a real club gives a player any advantage!

Southampton have sacked their manager following yesterday’s relegation. Makes you wonder what the point of sacking Russ Martin was.

Russell Martin - 5 points in 16 games
Other bloke - 5 points in 15 games

Slightly better PPG, but both struggling badly. Mind you, looking at the PL lately, promoted teams are all struggling, so it’s partly a sign of the times.

Amazing achievement and you have to feel sorry for him with the club he started with folding, relocating and being hated by so many.

Joined as a 7 year old and had been at the club 12 years when it “moved”. Now in his 35th year at the club/s and it looks like he will stay to get his badges and coach.

It’s a hats off from me :top_hat:

Massive game for Blooms this evening. I’m going to need to multi-screen.

Really don’t like Luton but I’ll be rooting for Matt to keep them in the Championship.

The final parachute payment next season should help him stabilise the club in mid table and get them a season closer to the new ground in 2027.

The new ground looks amazing at 25000 and right in the heart of the town centre and next to the train station
