For a “Championship” game it’s very poor quality.
Blooms + Dodds = back to back 0-0 draws.
The El Blooms brothers doing it in their own way.
Kone had pelters from QPR fans on the old socials. Just give him the ball 12 yards out and let him finish. He’s not a wideman or play it in behind man, he just scores goals.
I suspect hiring Dodds is the worst mistake Blooms has ever made.
I suspect it isn’t a mistake.
Dodds kept bleating that he wanted to play a different style of Football to Blooms, and players were having to learn this new way of playing. Did Blooms choose him at PNL ?? Dodds doesn’t have an attacking vision, in his mindset.
I can see them parting company before the end of the season.

Dodd’s coaching is improving! Under Dodd’s we didn’t score in the first half for I can’t remember how many games, perhaps someone else can remember the exact figures. But he has now gone from not scoring in the first half to not scoring in either half.Bit i am sure he will say that Oxford were in control in both matches.
It looks like he is continuing with his mantra of process being more important than results.
Dodds is not the manager of Oxford, Bloomfield is.
Dodds was a decent bloke while manager of Wycombe but it didn’t work out. Not sure he deserves abuse and snide comments in his new role as a No2.
It could be argued that it makes sense for a new manager of Oxford to first concentrate on making them tough to beat and only then concentrate on attacking.
Quite right Dev. He’s a decent bloke and a decent coach according to a lot of players who’ve been coached by him, it just didn’t work out at Wycombe
The continued jibes are very mean-spirited in my view
Indeed. Two consecutive clean sheets, against good opposition, is more than they’ve managed all season.
The expectations will have gone up as well as the level.
6 goals is probably a reasonable first half of the season total, with many years to improve.
But we saw with Doddsy what a “bad” Kone can look like. Isolated, first touch non existent etc.
Hopefully they play to his strengths.
You seemingly write this with a slight mockery.
But Oxford are a very poor championship side losing loads of games.
So two 0-0s against better teams is actually a solid start!
Unfortunately, it feels like he’s like he’s walked into a very similar scenario to the Lu-on job.
Side very likely to get relegated, fanbase that thinks they’re more big time than they are, and pressure mounting weekly.
I watched last night, and also watched the early games in charge of Luton, and there was a big difference in the players between last night and early Luton. The Luton players looked completely disinterested, and either weren’t trying or were genuinely shit. Oxford’s players last night looked like team mates in it together - a lot of solid defending in the first half and some very committed counter attacks in the second half. They did look slightly out of their depth at times, playing a level above where they’d be comfortable, but they’d very obviously bought into what Blooms and Dodds had been coaching them.
I’m more convinced that it’s a massive job facing them though because the quality was so lacking. But then again, QPR didn’t look an awful lot better and if Blooms and Dodds can get some confidence into them, they might pull it off.
Dodds seemed a thoroughly nice chap. And clearly an excellent backroom staff coach. That’s backed up by Sunderland players stating the fact and Bellingham turning up at Bromley last year.
Just not head coach of my football club.
I wish him nothing but success alongside Blooms, even if it is for Oxford.
Dodds was dealt a poison chalice coming in when he did and though he may have come up short, we don’t know what pressure and what players were foisted on him from the start. Bad fit maybe but he seemed a decent chap rather than a Kevin Nolan.
There are also those who are desperate for Blooms to fail (and not just because of the teams who offer him a job) so if the combination ends up working parts of the Gasroom may explode!
If I’ve properly understood this reference it’s one of my favourites in Gasroom history.
According to the Oxford’s website, Blooms is the HEAD COACH not the MANAGER.
Look out, someone will be along to make an original and funny iPad joke in a minute.
