I sit up there now with my 3 yr old. First season I’ve been in that stand, having been in the terrace for about 15 yrs and a box before that.
It’s a decent atmosphere and my son has even started clapping along and trying to get involved in ‘Chairboys, Barmy Army’ at the last couple of games. But it could be much better. Like many parts of the ground it astounds me how many people just don’t get involved in making any noise whatsoever.
Brilliant idea. Good work for trying to improve the atmosphere. I can’t make that game but would be great to hear the feedback on how it goes.
You might also want to let the HP12 podcast boys know as they always back these initiatives and will probably shout it out on the pod. @DevineInspiration
It’s a great idea, but you’ll never get anyone to give up their seats in the FA unless there is a decent sized block of seats that is not already season ticketed. Bit of entitlement up there.
I’m considering going back to the Terrace next season. Further compounded that I was running late for the Wimbledon game and someone was in my ST seat.
If it’s a success which I think it will be, the club can just allocate X amount of seats in that block for every home game. Often empty anyway aren’t they.
I wonder if the club would consider making a small area of safe standing in the FA upper. It has easily the best acoustics of the home areas (not hard) and the end blocks are rarely used at the moment.
As an exile, it’s good to catch up with mates I only see every few weeks, but there are some locals who prefer the quiet. A renowned old misery, whose husband tuts if people leave their seats mid-game, once muttered ‘not him again’ as I took my seat.
I was being lazy really, looking it up it seems to be £10 up there for a kid rather than £5 downstairs, and £20 for a junior (15-18) rather than £9 in the family bit.
Hard to moan too much with the season ticket deal though.
The banter with your friends is a massive part of attending the games and if someone moaned about our group of seven or so talking, I would imagine they would be told to get the bus to the Wycombe library.
I find it quite funny. We have a sweep as to how soon she’ll turn around with the Paddington stare.
There were mutterings of ‘why can’t you get here on time’ at some inexperienced supporters who got in a bit late for the Cardiff game. I’m sure they’ll be desperate to return!
