It’s very hard naming the subs, but I’d rather see Kodua than Fred covering at RB or playing further up the field now. I’d seriously be tempted by having Hanlan involved but in truth there are others ahead of him when all fit.
I’m a fan of the 4141 formation too, leaving Scowen or Simons sitting and keeping the same 11’s but playing with much more width form the wide men.
Target man. Pulls defenders away for Fred and Sads to provide pace down the wings. Plays the role Kone has been playing lately, leave Kone to play the poachers role.
Except he will get more service and support in the final third as we will have more attacking threat with 2 full backs who can support and overlap 2 wider players instead of just 2 wing backs, opening more central attacking space up for Kone, Humphreys et al.
If he has three supporting players in a 4-2-3-1 then it’s not the same as he’s been playing under Dodds. Dodds has been 5-3-1-1 at best, with Udoh nominally closer to him, but really quite distant on the left wing, and normally 5-4-1 with basically no support.
I’m more interested in the team against Stockport. A good opportunity to test new options and save the established players for the bench.
I’d like to see a front two of Udoh and Lubala. I’d like Simons in the pivot and Berry, Humphreys and Lowry ahead of him. I’d like Taylor and Low to partner each other for old times sake, with Grimmer and Leahy as full backs to provide some stability. I guess there’s no question really that Norris will play in goal but I would like him instructed to only distribute the ball short and fast.
4132 with a bench of “finishers”: Rav, Bradley, Scowen, Fred, McCleary, Kone and Bakinson.
I don’t care if that team loses 4-0 again. It doesn’t really matter. But at least it’ll let us see what a Plan B might look like in the play offs.
