As you know, WTV will have just an audio feed on Saturday. Going on last year’s details, we will have highlights of the game at 12 pm on Sunday* and a full match replay by Thursday.
*Just looked over the rules again, all highlight footage is 12pm on Sunday
Plymouth had sold 800+ yesterday but 6.5k seems a little on the high side, even allowing for some feel-good factor, the appearance of cup run legends, and discounted pricing. I’d love for that number to be accurate but I’ll go for a more conservative 3,600.
Back then, we needed the pizza cup to get confidence, minutes, goals, a win, anything to cling onto to try and improve our season
The FA Cup is just an unwanted distraction for what is far more important now with what Duff is building.
Only positive is, it’s a free hit to give fringe players a chance to show what they have
Plenty of nostalgia for us in the cup, I was there for the entire 00/01 run, even being interviewed for the Liverpool game, but every year it seems less and less important to more and more clubs. Shame. But, reality and seeing as it’s gone to the highest bidder, the FA/TNT/BBC know as well.
Disagree with some of that personally. I still love the FA Cup, especially the early rounds. And I still think it’s a very important and prestigious competition for us. Obviously a lot going on at the time we reached the Fourth Round last season and that overshadowed what was a great achievement. I think there’s a subconscious (conscious) obsession (expectation) of reaching the Championship which has perhaps made us feel a bit blase towards the FA Cup. I hope there’s enough there tomorrow to give the heroes of yesterday a good reception.
I thought greedy tv companies were killing football by showing traditional 3pm kick offs but now ‘Why can’t I get an FA cup ticket?’ has become ‘Why can’t I stream the game?’
Yes, but we have a realistic chance of getting to Wembley, and winning a trophy in the pizza cup, whereas the FA Cup semis and final will almost certainly be contested by PL teams.
