Reading Turmoil

But nowadays it’s life @Shev. I’m retired now, but in the last two organisations I worked for there were major restructures and pay cuts (albeit those cut had a protected salary for a period).
I know we’ve been through this many times, but the bottom line is whoever pays the piper calls the tune. Our owners unfortunately wanted a different tune.

Understood, but did anyone who did not want a pay cut get called Judas?

To be fair, MB was only offered 24 pieces of silver

Regarding chess, it seems to have become more world wide as the top three in order of the rankings are Norway, Japan and India. May have something to do with the Ukraine war though.

Neil Peters and JJ spotted at Adams Park. Couhig’s wingmen on the prowl?

The winding up order brought by a players agency has now been withdrawn. I assume the debt has been paid. But, by whom? Couhig lending the club more money? Dai paying off his own debts? The latter would make a change! At least that is one more hinderance out of the way. Only another six days to go before the EFL has to make another decision.

Unless they have seen the bigger picture and that they could be one of the reasons why the club could go under?

Amalgamating the clubs? A footballing empire would be born, can you imagine the swarms of people from Reading, Marlow, Henley, High Wycombe, making the Tuesday evening pilgrimage to watch the Thames Valley Bedsheet Boys play out of the might selectcarleasinginsurancekazakhstan stadium

Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it

Dai has a record paying up just enough debt to get winding up orders struck off. If one is carried he loses all control. Also adds to the confusion because he obviously does have some money and can find some when it’s absolutely mandated. Not sure the EFL really can do much other than throwing the club out of the league if he won’t clear off and it doesn’t sort itself out.

One day left until Reading get suspended from the league!!:tada::piñata::confetti_ball::clinking_beer_mugs:

I think celebrating any club other than Franchise going to the wall is pretty low.

Reading this back after they beat us in the playoffs is going to be a real treat isn’t it?

Hopefully you’ll get the news that finally the deal is done and we can start making jokes about a former WW owner buying a smaller club to see if he can make something of them!

All jokes are off if we do meet in the play-offs though!!

I deleted my previous post by accident. Is there way of retrieving it or do I have to repost it?

I have restored it for you!

Thanks very much. I will blame it it on my old fingers!

Football ownership at every level is a dodgy s***show that hits all of us at some point. I dont celebrate any team being killed off by it. Hopefully, things get sorted at some point @TheRoyalBiscuit

When my fingers did a stupid thing, I was going to add:- except for us not making the playoffs, which could suit the EFL as they may be wary of the sale not going through and maybe having to expel us and being a club short in the Championship next season if we win at Wembley. Strange as it may seem, it wouldn’t bother me too much if we don’t make the playoffs. We only only have about 3 or 4 players under contract for next season, so the task of building for the Championship would be a tall order for RC (or anyone else). Our record in the playoffs is bad, so I would not be confident of winning them, anyway.

As I have said before, I really do not want to see another team go the way of Bury or those before them, so I really hope sense prevails & the ownership debacle at Reading gets sorted.

I just want to apologise, my earlier comment was meant to come across as a tongue in cheek comment and it isn’t my actual view on the situation.
The way football has gone recently does make my stomach churn something horrid as everyone from Players, Managers & Owners are all looking at the game as to “How can I get rich quick?” rather than playing for the love of the game and/or shirt. These owners come in from wherever and most of them have already planned their exit routes out of the club / game. RC was very open about his exit strategies before his gave us a load of rubbish.
I’d love to go back to the days where we have a local owner, someone who loved watching the game / club and put that above anything else and did everything for the benefit of the club.
This does make me very nervous about OUR current ownership. While Rice has been willing to meet with the fans on a few occasions, we already know that he forced out someone who was taking the club where the owners wanted to go. However, we haven’t seen or heard anything from the actual owner. Are we going to be in a situation in 2-5yrs time when Mikheil Lomtadze realises we have reached our glass ceiling, gets disappointed, removes all funding and tries to sell for a price that noone is willing to match? That seems very similar to the situation at Reading if I’m not wrong?
