Can’t imagine the £23 season tickets for Under 13s will last long either
In Robs last season here we had season tickets for U11’s at £39
Up the WycDing Chairbiscuits!
I agree a strong chance that Reading owned by Couhig and Wycombe owned by Lomtadze may well do a deal in respect of acquiring/renting some or all of Bearwood. Time will tell the exact structure but my guess would be (with no inside knowledge) Lomtadze buys Bearwood and then rents roughly half each to Reading and Wycombe.
No problem @Otter87. Enough water has flowed under the bridge, it has flushed all thoughts of that post away from my memory. Just forget about it and don’t beat yourself up about it.
You forgot flaming wheelie bins
I too, feel that some sort of arrangement regarding Bearwood may be made. It may well be that the site is shared as some pitches must be unused as the Women’s team are now based in Slough (I assume they train there as well). The outcome I foresee is that both Wycombe and Reading’s first team will share the pitches. As I said before, on Gasroom2, I can’t see the Gym, Briefing Room, Kitchen etc. being shareable, so perhaps a planning application will have to be made to enable duplicate buildings, either on site or nearby. I really cannot see how RC/TT would hope to sell Bearwood without causing utter uproar from our fans. The Cat 1 Academy has kept us going the last few years, whilst we have been under embargos, finance troubles etc. This year as everyone has seen most of our players have come from there, others have been sold on, Take Olise, for example, sold for £8 million to Crystal Palace who sold him on giving us Xmillion pound in sell on fees. That kept us limping along, but without it, we may well have folded. Taking into account the revenue that has come into the club, has the academy really lost all that much? Bearwood may be one of Dai’s projects, but it is one that is held dear by all Royals fans. One thought has come to mind is didn’t the EFL ban the sale of stadiums? If so, are Training Grounds covered by the same rule or are they allowed to be sold to other clubs/owners?
What did they cost when he came in?
Sharing it as a training ground makes sense, or would if we hadn’t paid to refurbish 2 other grounds recently.
There would have to be a strong no poaching clause for two academies to share a training ground. Would be very little point training people from 10 years old for them to then play for the other club.
I wonder now Rob Couhig has bought Reading, how does Pete Couhig fit into the picture. He bought into Wycombe with both his head and his heart unlike his Uncle who was in it to make money. Would he accept a role?
I think it depends on how his bank balance is. Does he need to work? Does the offer cover all his family’s costs and/or time away from home?
You could say the same about JJ… Is he going to take a senior role at the club even though it’s a strong rival of the club he gave 10 yrs of his life too?
Has Rob really provided the funding or is he just a figurehead?
Dunno about being a ‘strong rival’ but get your point.
Rob on BBC South just now confirming that JJ will be sharing CEO duties.
Maybe it’s the heat but I have a mounting irrational dislike of Reading which grows with every (sanctimonious) post of theirs I read.
Pissed off that:
- Bobby C was too old to travel, buggered off and left us with R&D
- Yet Bobby C missing the jet lag stayed on the M4 out of H’row to enjoy the legals with the Chinese bloke
- & then took JJ with him
- Lewis Wing’s Wag partner banging on about ‘family’
- Oh and their rubbish tyre track kit ‘takes the biscuit’
Still best to channel one’s frustration outside our club I guess.
Yeah grates a bit but it’s clear that he is a businessman and not a fan. Talks about honesty but that exit was mildly dishonest in my book. Worldwide Wanderers my arse
No one does charm offensives like Rob Couhig.
Really?!
The Purple Turtle, the biscuit themed shirt, and here, the cajun burgers, the beer tent…he knows what he’s doing.
